A very private charming villa with 3 spacious self-catering flats, surrounded by lovely garden and large pool.Balconies and terraces with superb views. No car necessary, very near the old quarter, restaurants, sea and down town Funchal. The market is a 5 minute walk away. The garden and pool is shared by the three flats, located on a quiet and peaceful residential area of Funchal with stunning sea views & harbour views. A perfect base to relax, enjoy the great climate down by the sea where it is warm most of the year. Large swimming pool, surrounded by subtropical plants. Deck chairs, outside dining space, barbecue for each flat. . Very nicely decorated, light and airy, great quality bedlinen and fittings. Completely renovated in January 2008 to a high quality standard while keeping its stunning period features intact. Each flat is between 80-100 m2. A casual and friendly place, great for barbecues and outdoor dining, in a totally authentic neigbourhood. No air conditioning necessary

Bright spacious 2 bedroom flat. Located on the top floor of this elegant Madeiran colonial villa, large balcony offers stunning views of the sea just in front and the bay of Funchal. No stairs as the entrance is level to the street. Sleeps 4, the main bedroom has 2 twin beds, the other smaller bedroom has a bunk bed for 2 people, ideally children (bathroom is accessed via this room). Very high stuccoed ceilings, original wooden floors and lots of light. The living room has French windows accessing the large balcony, fully equipped kitchenette and dining room including stove, fridge and microwave also with French windows looking onto the balcony and sea view. Bathroom with bath, swimming pool with deck chairs and large table. Shared with other 2 flats. Barbecue area, Funchal city center (historic old quarter) and sea within walking distance (5min). Palheiro golf course within 10min car ride Services included: Linen and towels; Normal consumption of water and electricity No car necessary

Levada walks, golf and swimming nearby: The villa is the ideal base to explore the beautiful island of Madeira, its strategic location in the heart of Funchal means it is just by the seaside were you can swim, water ski, scuba dive, sail and much more. The 2 golf courses are very near, Palheiro Golf is just 10min away and Santo da Serra Golf is just 20min away. Madeira is a walkers paradise and from here you can reach the mountains and discover the levada trails. A bus stop is nearby, and the main road to the airport is very easy to catch. Local café and corner shop is a couple of meters down the road.

On arrival we were given a very warm and friendly welcome at this lovely spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable apt. It offers opportunity for lazing on the extensive balcony or poolside,or for sightseeing/walking etc. The views from windows and balcony of the sea, harbour and Funchal are beautiful both day and night. We managed exploration of the coast, gardens and mountains by public transport - exciting on steep narrow roads, but great fun. Within easy reach of the apt. are a good local shop, a butchers and a bakers. There is a great choice of restaurants in the old town. The walk into town is easy, the return is steep but manageable by 2 lady OAP's otherwise buses or taxis may be used.
Overall an amazing holiday on this beautiful island certainly enhanced by staying at Ocean View. Definitely a return visit has to be made.

Our apartment - Ocean View - was wonderfully equiped and decorated. T he views were spectacular and location perfect for the Old Town.

We too felt like we had our own private villa and pool. Taxis are very easy to pick up throughout the town, so you won't need a car. There are even taxis waiting outside the supermarket (well stocked).

It can be quite steep down into the town, so bring suitable footwear.

The location was very peaceful, apart unfortuntely from the dogs in the vicinity that barked quite alot during the night. If it wasn't for the dogs, we would have given an excellent rating.

Apart from that it was perfect, and so was Madeira.

Too good to be true (Our little secret)

Thank you Christina for a wonderful first time in Madeira. T

The Ocean Villa was beautiful, sooo big and the views were breath taking. (Don't forget the binoculars). The decor was very tasteful, minimalist without being cold. I have come home to change the interior of our home, (husband permitting)!

The villa had everything one could have wanted.
We enjoyed 10 wonderful days, we will make it 2 weeks next time. We enjoyed some gentle (ish) walking. The restaurants were superb. We will definately recommend the property but not before we have booked our next holiday in 2009.

We have spent many holidays in Florida, self catering in beautiful properties, but the freedom in Madeira was unbeatable. You don't need a car, the buses are a must, great fun going up into the mountains, an experience.

We walked a couple of levadas on our own, went on the cable car, visited numerous gardens, only touched the surface, still loads that we intend doing next year.

Thank you again for a beautiful stress free holiday in an amazing, beautiful home.

A dream holiday

Thank you for a wonderful escape, we arrived to find a charming flat, the apartment was much more than we could have dreamed, the little touches really made our stay memorable. The view is breathtaking, the sea can be seen just in front from every room in the house. There is a large balcony for sunbathing or having meals, overlooking the spectacular bay of Funchal, and we even had another huge terrace for barbecues. Even though the pool is shared with the other 2 flats it felt like a private villa as there was lots of space. We absolutely loved it and really recommend it.
