The garden and pool is shared by the three flats, located on a quiet and peaceful residential area of Funchal with stunning sea views & harbour views. A perfect base to relax, enjoy the great climate down by the sea where it is warm most of the year. Large swimming pool, surrounded by subtropical plants. Deck chairs, outside dining space, barbecue for each flat. . Very nicely decorated, light and airy, great quality bedlinen and fittings. Completely renovated in January 2008 to a high quality standard while keeping its stunning period features intact. Each flat is between 80-100 m2. A casual and friendly place, great for barbecues and outdoor dining, in a totally authentic neigbourhood. No air conditioning necessary

A great favourite. Bright, very spacious one bedroom apartment. Located on the middle floor of this elegant old Madeiran villa, the large balcony offers stunning views of the sea just in front and bay of Funchal and has private deckchairs and barbecue as well as outside dining area - No car necessary. Sleeps 2 people in twin beds in a very large bedroom with French windows. High ceilings, original wooden floors and lots of lovely light. The living room has French windows accessing the balcony. A fully equipped kitchenette and dining area including stove, fridge and microwave. Large bathroom with lovely Portuguese tiles with original bath and separate walk in shower area and window.Swimming pool with deck chairs and large table. Shared with other 2 flats. Private barbecue.   • Wonderful bathroom with seaviews. Terracota tiled floor, and the walls have traditional portuguese glazed tiles. The villa´s original bath has been restored and has pride of place in this bathroom. A separate large walk in shower even has a seat made from the local volacnic stone.

Levada walks, golf and swimming nearby: The villa is the ideal base to explore the beautiful island of Madeira, its strategic location in the heart of Funchal means it is just by the seaside were you can swim, water ski, scuba dive, sail and much more. The 2 golf courses are very near, Palheiro Golf is just 10min away and Santo da Serra Golf is just 20min away. Madeira is a walkers paradise and from here you can reach the mountains and discover the levada trails. A bus stop is nearby, and the main road to the airport is very easy to catch. Local café and corner shop is a couple of meters down the road.

Madeira triumph

The best feature is the location, which is perfect if you like to be near the sea, walk into the centre of Funchal, and yet remain in a lovely residential neighbourhood, full of local colour and friendly faces...no hotels or comercial noises around! The other big surprise was just how beautiful this house is, the Bay flat has been very well restored, we had all the modern comforts and decor, set in a colonial villa over a hundred years old. The rooms are huge but all have charm and warmth, we really felt at home. Property was clean, everything working and quite new, we had a friendly welcome at the airport, english speaking lady that gave us lots of useful tips. Our favourite place of the Bay View is the veranda, here we could sunbathe, barbecue, eat meals and enjoy the views. There is also a stair that leads directly to the pool which is very large. My only negative comment would be the locals driving in Madeira roads which gave us many frights, but apart from this we fell in love with the island and plan to return at least once a year to our Bay view.

Spectacular Stay!

We had a fabulous time in the Bay View and adored exploring Funchal on foot. The weather was glorious, sun filled the pool area all day, before breakfast we started the day with a dip in the large pool surrounded by banana trees and exotic looking plants. Breakfast was eaten on the balcony, drinking in the stunning sea view just in front. The property was enormous, our bedroom was bigger then our living room in London, the photos don´t really do the apartment justice as it is filled with light, sea views from all the windows and so much space, decorated in a refreshingly simple and elegant way. The owner took special care to make us feel at home and gave us all the information we needed.
We spent the days walking, we swam once in the bareirinha sea resort just down the road, the sea was warm and easy to dive in and out, cost 1 euro. When we took a taxi from the centre of town with all our shopping back to the Bay View that only cost 4 euro. Funchal market has good fish, and it took us about 10minutes to walk there, we had two great barbecues at the property, balmy warm nights tasting Portuguese white wine in a magical setting. We´ve already booked with Christina to return next year.

One of our best holidays ever

The location of the Ballroom Flat was perfect for us, we rented a car but then just left it parked outside the house most of the time as it was such a pleasure to walk to the old town and explore everything on foot. The flat is much larger than we expected, huge rooms, decoration is really tasteful and uncluttered, what exists is good quality (specially bedlinen, towels etc.). Not only did we have an amazing balcony with view of the harbor but a barbecue which we used a couple of night (the owners kindly supplied coal and wood). Pool area is large and although not heated we had some good swims.We loved feeling like locals as this is a residential area and everyone is friendly. Mariazinha de bakery nearby has delicious fresh bread and the local cafés and restaurants were very authentic and quite reasonable. Gavião Novo was our favourite. I´ve raved about this property to my friends and I would really recommend it to anyone wanting an authentic local experience in Funchal, with great style, nice and casual in a unbeatable location.

Madeira....immer wieder!!!

Auch unser zweiter Aufenthalt auf Madeira war wieder einfach wunderschön!!! Und die Villa Juvenal ist einfach traumhaft schön und auf alle Fälle zu empfehlen. Ich würde aber doch ein Auto empfehlen, weil es doch schon ziemlich steil in der Umgebung ist und man so die Insel auch viel besser erkunden kann als mit dem Bus.
Die Lage ansonsten ist ein Traum...der Blick auf den Hafen....unbezahlbar...vorallem vom Turm aus, den wir von unserem Balkon super erreichen konnten. Mann darf natürlich nicht vergessen, dass man im Süden ist und sich in der Altstadt befindet...d.H Kakerlaken gab es auch so einige, war aber zu ertragen:-))
Und es ist ein altes Haus und damit eben sehr hellhörig, wenn mann dann eine Familie mit 2 kleinen Kindern über sich hat kann es auch mal laut werden. Wir fanden es nicht schlimm, waren eh viel unterwegs. Aber man sollte es wissen! Ich würde sofort wieder buchen!!!
Die Wohnung ist schön eingerichtet, hauptsächlich Ikea Möbel, auch die Küche ist aussreichend eingerichtet. Wir haben unsere Cafetera für unsere Nachfolger dagelassen, da keine Kaffeemaschine vorhanden ist.
Sehr schön ist es, dass ein Fön und eine Waschmaschine vorhanden sind.
Also auf nach Madeira in die Villa Juvenal!!!!
