Few disappointments

We were two families travelling to La Manga in July 2009. The apartment is lovely and I had occasion to speak to John on the phone on several occasions prior to our trip and found him nothing other than charming and helpful.
However, we experienced some problems. We had NO hot water in the ensuite shower for the entire two weeks we were there - apparently new shower had been fitted but was not working.
THe air con system did not work properly in one of the bedrooms and despite reporting it on the first week, it was never repaired.
Two of the main things on our "wish list", 2nd shower and air con - these were imperative for us so we were extremely disappointed to have experienced this problem. We were even more disappointed that no token gesture was offered of compensation. We paid for a fully air conditioned apartment with two showers - we did not get this.
We realise that the owners are at the beck and call of tradesmen in Spain, however, that is not the holidaymakers issue.
I feel you do need a car to explore and its not suitable for families with teenagers.
Sorry, but we won't be returning.

Sadly and unfortunately despite our best efforts and systems in place - sometimes, things do go wrong.
Disappointingly to you and ourselves, and despite maintenance and service programmes being in place.
On arrival you found part of the air conditioning had developed a fault, which quite rightly you then reported to the housekeepers 2 days later.
According to your e mail to ourselves, this was then repaired to your satisfaction the following day.
Consequently we are at a loss and puzzled by your review comments.
The new hydro massage shower in the ensuite was also rigorously tested by engineers and found to be working efficiently with both hot and cold water. However due to the complexity and to save any further misunderstandings, we thank you for your comments.
Instructions of use have now been placed within the apartment.
We are all guests in a foreign land and to most holidaymakers the attraction is the sunshine, beach and blending in with the culture and the different pace and outlook to life. The people have very different attitudes and priorities, therefore we do not consider it to be within our power to expect them to alter their attitudes or habits of a lifetime to suit ourselves.
However in this instance, we do believe correcting the fault the day after reporting was within anybodies reasonable timescales.
Despite all our efforts to please, we are really sorry that you feel we or our housekeepers have let you down, or that La Manga did not live up to your expectations.
Many of our bookings are from families with children and teenagers, with many of whom have re-booked with us again from last year.
Car hire again is a matter of choice. We have many guests who are completely satisfied with the traditional Spanish culture in and around La Manga alongside everything else it has to offer in providing a relaxed carefree and cultured holiday. However if you do want to explore the many beautiful area's or the bright lights outside of La Manga, without the need to rely on the regular ferry crossings, buses or taxis, then a car is beneficial.
Ideally our standards are such, that we aim to please everyone, on this occasion no matter what the reasons, both our housekeepers and ourselves feel bitterly disappointed we have been unable to add yourselves to a long list of happy and satisfied families.
