Photos and Description of this Funchal holiday villa South facing comfortable villa in rural setting just 10 mins from town centre.

The Quinta is owned by English couple John & Mary Goodley and has been in the family since the 17th century. They let the Vivenda, fully furnished, holiday property on a self catering basis. The property sleeps up to six and is south facing with fabulous views of the bay of Funchal. Local amenities include restaurants, bakery, supermarkets and frequent bus (20 mins) and taxi (10 mins) services to town centre. Madeira out of town shopping mall is a 15 minute walk away with cinemas, supermarket, shops and restaurants. The Quinta gardens are visited by horticultural tourists on a regular basis and are open to residents.

Madeira is a haven for walkers and garden enthusiasts with scenery that will take your breath away. It has two fabulous golf courses one that is on the European circuit and the other that some people say should be. The Quinta is a great base for touring the island or just relaxing in its rural setting. Local amenities include, restaurants, supermarkets, bakery and shops with Madeira shopping centre a 15 minute walk away. Funchal town centre is a 20 minute bus ride away or 10 minutes by taxi, frequent festas are held in the village of santo Antonio.

We had a lovely stay at the Vivenda. It was clean and well laid out and had everything we needed. After a busy day down in Funchal it was great to come back and relax on the patio and look out at the fantastic view, see the ships far away in the harbour and as we were there at Christmas time - the wonderful fireworks. I think we had the best seat in the house!

Just below the Vivenda are the vineyards and banana trees, so it feels quite rural and quiet and the friendly owners are just 2 minutes away should you need anything. It's a very quick taxi ride to Funchal and Madeira shopping is quite near by.

I can highly recommend the local restaurant (Selva) for sangria and pregos, the bakery for lovely fresh rolls and a drive up to the mountains to sit above the clouds and drink a poncha is well worth it.

A great place to escape to.
