Gale holiday villa: galé

When we arrived to the property we tought that: "Wow. This is even nicer house than what we expected." House was new, clean and well maintained. Location was peaceful and close the sea. All of us tought that coast area was beautiful. We can recommendate this place to the other persons too and we tought that would be nice to come again to this same place. It was nice to cook together and have barbecue.
Most of us played golf and of course house is near many golf courses.
Owners were nice and reliable.
We = three couples, one child and two single men.

The villa itself is immaculate both inside and out, the rooms large and spacious with air con. All upstairs bedrooms come with balconies as standard. Fatima the maid who visted throughout the week was fantastic and did a wonderful job. The property owners were very helpful, stopping by mid-week to give us some advice on local attractions and to recommend places to eat and things to do nearby. The pool and patio areas were great with a large BBQ - perfect for family meals.

The beach is literally a 5 minute walk from the villa, with larger beaches to the right slightly, complete with sunloungers and umbrellas and some smaller coves and rock pools slightly to the left for the more adventurous. 3 very good beach bars are all immediately on the beach and perfect for breakfast lunch or dinner! We enjoyed crepes on the beach on several occassions and Jelly Coconuts.

Gale itself is quite small however there are a number of very good restaurants; Villa Joya is a 2 Michelin Star Hotel just 5 minutes away - a bit pricey at 100 euros per head at lunchtime, but the meal itself was 9 courses and the food was absolutely divine - a must if you are visitng without children and enjoy eating out.
Other restaurants we tried included Lourenco which is just 15 minutes walk away - situated right on the beach with a fantastic view overlooking the sea; and Sao Dominico which is further into Gale and about a 25 minute walk; but traditional Portugese food and favoured by the locals which is always a good sign! Prices are pretty much what you would expect in the UK - 3 euros for a beer, a main course at dinner will cost 10-15 euros.

A larger town of Abufeira is just a 10-15 minute drive, and a taxi will only cost 10-12 euros each way. Abufeira has a market and some small shops plus a larger selection of bars and restaurants. Other attractions include Aqualand which is a great waterpark 20 minutes drive away. Spain ian hours drive and the fishing village of Ayamonte is well worth visiting if you have time to drive over the border.

Overall a fantastic holiday with plenty to do and something for everyone. Definitely recommended to future holidaymakers.

Like the other reviewers say; the villa is in a great position for the beaches, supermarket and restaurants.... The villa is also better than the photographs portray - fantastic, very new, clean & spacious - had a relaxing time around the pool - BBQ was fun and cooked the sardines perfectly - Kitchen is huge, plus a good sized fridge for cooling those special 'drinks'

Must Do's: Vila Joya; Bar between Lourenco Beach & Gale Beach; bars on beach all serve good food, use Lourenco restaurant if you like a quiet atmosphere

Shopping: loads of shops in the Algarve Shopping Centre, about 15mins drive away - fishmongers 5 mins drive away
