This beautiful family sized 2-bedroom apartment is set in lovely sub-tropical gardens with large free-form community swimming pool, at the top of Calahonda. It is well furnished and fully air-conditioned; there is one double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and 1 twin bedroom, there is also a guest bathroom with bath & shower. The lounge includes a sofa bed, English TV, DVD and CD player. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full hob and oven, washing machine, fridge-freezer, coffee maker, microwave and dishwasher. There is also an X Box games system with a variety of games. The large terrace has great views of the Mediterranean and is equipped with patio furniture and sun loungers; the terrace is south and west facing so that it gets the full benefit of the sun in the summer. The local supermarket, a bar and two excellent restaurants are within a few minutes walk; the main shopping area, restaurants and beach are a few minutes drive away.

Close to several excellent golf courses and local beaches, the apartment is a 20-25 minute car or bus ride away from Fuengirola, Marbella and Puerto Banus. There are numerous attractions for children along this coast which include water parks at Torremolinos and Fuengirola, amusement parks, Sea Life Centre & Zoo in Fuengirola, Mini Golf not to mention the fabulous beaches. Gibraltar and its fascinating history and duty free shopping is only an hour’s drive and from the top of the Rock via cable car you can see the famous Rock Apes and fantastic views of Morrocco and the Straits of Gibraltar. The Sierra Nevada is only about two and a half hours away by car. Other interesting places to visit include Granada with its magnificent Alhambra Palace, Seville with its famous Giralda tower in the Cathedral, Ronda with its awe-inspiring Puente Nuevo, and the pretty white villages (pueblo blancos) including Mijas and Coin. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

Golf: We recommend the nearby courses at Cabopino and Miraflores, and the new Calanova course near Mijas Costa. There is also the La Siesta par 3 course and driving range in Calahonda, very close to the apartment.

Tennis and Fitness Centre: Calahonda has a superb tennis and fitness centre; there is a regulary programme of events for tennis and gym access can bought be on a daily or longer term basis.

Great holiday rental!

This apartment is fantastic. The apartment was clean and neat. The beds were very comfortable. The view from the balcony is amazing. The woman who manages the apartment on-site is very kind and helpful. You can walk to the little convenience store and restaurant. The walk up the hill to the pool is nothing. I was a little worried after reading the one review but once we arrived at the complex I realized there was nothing to worry about. Our 4 and 5 year old children didn't even notice there was a hill! The apartment complex is residential and therefore quiet which is perfect for us. Our children had no problems swimming in the pool and being pumped by rowdy teenagers or big inflatable rafts. The beach is just a short drive down the hill which makes for easy beach mornings and lazy pool afternoons. If we return to Spain next summer we will DEFINITELY be staying here again!

Family Holiday in Calahonda

We were all delighted with the generous size and beautiful location of this extremely well-equipped appartment. As a family of five, including two teenage sons, it provided us with more than ample space during our stay. The large , private terrace provided a good mix of sunshine and shade at just the right times of the day.
An added bonus was having the owner's agent on site who met us upon arrival at the appartment and gave us useful hints and tips about getting out and about. The surrounding road network made this extremely easy and the location was ideal for exploring nearby places such as Puerto Banus and Gibraltar to the West, and Malaga and Fuengirola to the East.
The pool was peaceful and well-kept , as were the grounds.
A great holiday - right mix of things to do , yet peaceful and relaxing. Some lovely restaurants and a handy shop just opposite too. We would definitely consider another visit.

The description of the apartment was very accurate. The apartment was a good size and had the added bonus of a second bathroom, which is essential with a family. The kitchen was very well equipped with a large fridge, again a big plus when you are catering for a family. We all loved the large balcony and all our meals were taken out there, plus many hours sipping our drinks and peacefully reading! It was great that the apartment had enough entertainment (DVD, X-box, TV,) to keep the children occupied. The complex is quiet enough to ensure you have a relaxing and peaceful holiday. The gardens and outside areas were well maintained and it was obvious that the residents take great pride in their homes and environment. The pool area had a hard surface with a small grassed area at the back. There were no sunloungers around the pool, but these were provided by the owner and were left in the outside pool lock-up or in the apartment. The complex was very secure and I was safe in the knowledge that the children could go to the pool as and when they wanted to. In my opinion it is essential that you have a car so that you can fully explore what that part of the coast has to offer and to ensure that the children have plenty to do. We took the children to waterparks, shopping complexs, beaches, cinema, mini golf and much more! When not dining in, we visited the local restaurant which was within walking distance and very popular, and at other times we drove down the hill or further a field to sample other dining experiences. We all enjoyed our holiday which was a mix between quiet and relaxed on the one hand to busy and lively on the other.

Great holiday location

We had a great holiday - the apartment was much larger than others we've stayed in in Calahonda and was really well equipped with everything we needed. We were sent directions that got us straight to the venue and the person managing the apartment met us to give us the keys and made us feel welcome.
The apartment was in a complex that wasn't too big and it was quiet and relaxed - just what we needed, and it felt really secure. There were DVDs to watch and an XBox with a variety of games. The balcony was big and got plenty of sun - we ate most of our meals out there. We walked to the local restaurants but only used the one on the corner as the food was really good value with a lot of choices. The supermarket next to the restaurants stocked everything we needed and was open on Sunday (which many others weren't). We played golf at two local courses (there were lots of details in the apartment) that we booked through Sunshine Golf (on the coast road to Mijas Costa). Getting to places like Fuengirola and Puerto Banus was easy using the coast road (we had a car), and it took us about an hour to get to Gibraltar.
This was a really nice place to stay and we'd happilly book again if we go back to the Costa del Sol.

the holiday was for myself ad friend and our 4 children, although the apartment itself was very nice, spacious and clean, the location, and the face that it was a residential place was a let down. The pool wasnt child friendly! the pool rules of no lilos or inflatables most of the day was a disappointment, they were allowed for 2 hours a day. The apartment was up a very steep hill, which was ok walking down, but on the way up, nightmare, also we really struggled to get a taxi home from anywhere, as no-one knew where it was! We only saw the tram train, maybe 2 times during the week, so we really were stuck in the middle of no=where, a car is a must, the restaurants that were down the hill, were busy as they where the only ones, so once you had eaten, you had to leave, no bars to have a drink, unless you went into calahonda, but then you had the worry of getting a taxi home, to the right place! i would not advise to book with children, and you really need a car. The pool also had no loungers, so could be a bit uncomfortable on the floor. I`m glad that this wasnt my main holiday, as the children were really bored.
Owner's Response: This is the first time we have had negative feedback, although I am afraid we are not too surprised given the issues with this group. We advised them that the community is quiet and has some people for whom this is their home, indeed it is this that contributes to make sure we have a community that is exceptionally well maintained, and is a place people can enjoy a holiday away from the behaviour found in resorts. We also advised them that it is best to have a car.

There are some unfortunate inaccuracies in the comments: the tram train operated on an hourly basis throughout the time they were there. Similarly, there is a taxi rank in Calahonda (very easy to find and we told them where it is) and we provided telephone numbers for taxi companies.

The two nearby restaurant/bars do not force people to leave after eating if people wish to stay to drink - and one is rarely fully occupied, whilst the other is very busy in the evenings because it is so popular with adults and families. The restaurant/bars are approx 100 metres from the entrance to the community.

We provide 5 sun beds for use in the apartment or by the pool - the community took a decision some years ago not to leave beds by the pool following damage by visitors. In addition, the rule for inflatables in the pool is only applied if there are other people who wish to use the pool - many adults and children have experienced the problems of not being able to use a pool safely because of others using lilos or throwing balls. We wish to allow all users to feel able to use the pool safely - if no others are in the pool the inflatables can be used. We take pride in having a community where visitors (and residents) are able to relax and enjoy the community, weather and area.

On a less positive note that relate specifically to the reviewers: we are still awaiting payment for the damages they caused (we refunded their deposit quickly, as we always try to, on the basis that they had paid our management team)
