Sightseeing:
The Moorish influence on Spain is still visible in the architecture of Mojacar Pueblo, the small hill-top, ancient center of the town. It has spectacular views of the beaches and surrounding country-side, with delightful bars and restaurants, tourist shops selling locally produced goods, along narrow pedestrian friendly streets. Artists sell their drawings, paintings and iron-work in Mojacar Pueblo. There are booklets in English and Spanish that tell you where to go for nature walks and hikes in the Natural Park of Cabo, of Gata Nijar or the Sorbas Caves and Desert area, or to the semi-urban open air markets of Turre, Garrucha, Vera or Cuevas de Almanzora. Mojacar is only 2 and 1/2 hours from Granada , the closest major urban center, with its historic park and castle. Vera, only 20 minutes by car, has an enormous 'Aqua Park ' full of swimming pools, slides and a wave pool. Food and beverages are sold within making this an ideal 'day out' for the whole family.
