Local attractions - things to do and see.:
The area surrounding Ovacik and Ölüdeniz is ideal for a variety of sports, including Scuba diving, Parachuting and Paragliding. Nearby Fethiye is not only a fascinating harbour and market town, but is also the centre of the ancient Lycian Civilisation. Don’t miss the tombs of Telmessos and the mountain city of Tlos. Pamukkale (Cotton Castle) is one of Turkey’s natural attractions. Over the last 14,000 years, thermal waters laden with lime deposits have cascaded from the top of the plateau to form snow-white terraced basins. The thermal water is also reputed to have healing properties. Paddling in the little pools on the plateau is possible. In the area there are also other hot pools, supplied by the natural springs, where you can swim among ancient column fragments scattered underwater. For those who don’t mind getting messy, don’t miss the opportunity to wallow in the local sulphur Mud baths at Caunos. Then cleanse yourself in the hot thermal waters at Llica. It’s great fun!
