We have just spent a week in this apartment and are pleased to be able to recommend it.
The accommodation: as described by other reviewers, we found this apartment to be brand new, clean, well furnished and very quiet, with a fantastic view over the sea. In fact we had a couple of nice surprises: there is a safe in the bedroom which is very useful for travel documents, extra cash etc. The sofa bed in the living room is not just a standard one, but is a large and comfortable double bed suitable for daily use – our son slept in the bedroom and we felt very comfortable in the sofa bed. The apartment is also very secure. In our opinion, the only improvement which could be made is to add either a blind or some curtains to the living room window: whilst the flat is not at all overlooked (even the balcony is separated from the neighbouring balcony by a wooden partition), a blind would prevent being awoken too early by the sun light when the sofa is used for sleeping.
The parking arrangements: parking a car in Alghero (and the rest of Sardinia!) is a challenge and therefore having an allocated, locked garage was brilliant. It also meant the car was kept cool and fresh!
The location: Alghero is a lovely town within very easy reach of the airport, and the old part of the town is particularly charming. We visited a few other towns in Sardinia and had no regrets over choosing Alghero. There are enough local shops for those on foot, and the town can also be reached without a car. However, the lovely walk into town takes a good 20 minutes – a little more for the old town. Whilst there is a small beach within a few minutes’ walk, we did not feel that it was adequate with a toddler (3 years old) as it was really quite small and there were a lot of rocks in the sea. However, the main beach in Alghero was brilliant. It is not easily reached on foot though, and we therefore parked the car in town. Whilst this is a suitable place for a car free holiday, we would recommend hiring a car or bikes to get around.
The owners: we had no problems communicating with the owners or with their representative in their absence. An issue with the boiler arose during our stay and this was fixed within hours of us calling our contact.
