Tucked away in a quiet country village, there are numerous walks straight from the door and a friendly local pub serving good home cooked food. With free Broadband access and awarded Four Stars from the English Tourist Board, the cottage sleeps up to 6 in 3 bedrooms, with exposed beams and a working open fire. With its 20 foot master bedroom, state-of-the-art bathroom, beautiful country kitchen and South facing garden, Lilac Cottage is the perfect place to get away from it all, yet is centrally located for exploring all the sites of the Peak District. 2 reception rooms each with TV and DVD, freesat satellite TV, CD system, books, games and DVDs, central heating, double glazing, mains-pressure hot water, dishwasher, automatic washer/dryer, fridge, freezer. Bedrooms consist of a huge master bedroom with king size bed, a spacious twin and a cosy double, all overlooking the garden. Cot and high chair on request. Regret no pets, no smoking. We reserve the right to refuse group bookings.

Chelmorton is a quiet village in a walker’s paradise in the Heart of the Peak District. We are just 4 miles from the beautiful spa town of Buxton and just 6 miles from Bakewell, lined with cobbled streets and of course the Bakewell pudding shop. We're also within easy reach of Matlock, Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall and for our younger guests, we're 20 minutes from the Heights of Abraham, Gullivers Kingdom and the Chestnut Wildlife Centre. Alton Towers and Carsington Water are also only 40 minutes away. For those looking for an active holiday, there is safe, off-road cycling on the Tissington and Monsal Trails, golf, climbing, archery and caving nearby and of course some stunning walks - from a stroll down the Wye or Goyt Valleys to a hike up Kinder Scout. For everyone else, there are beautiful views all around, some great little tea shops, restaurants and country pubs with roaring fires – including the one up the road from the cottage!

Additional information about rental rates

  • Book direct with owner - no booking fee or additional charges.
    Prices quoted are for a full week Saturday to Saturday. 3 night breaks are available out of peak season and all year round on a late availability basis at 70% of the weekly tariff.
    All prices include free wireless/wired Broadband access (up to 2GB/week), bed linen, towels, heating, electricity and initial coal provided. As the cottage is in a rural village, the broadband access can occassionally go down. Whilst we will liaise with BT to remedy any fault, we cannot be liable for any loss of broadband access.
  • A deposit of 25% (minimum £100) will be required when booking more than 8 weeks in advance, otherwise the full amount is due. An additional damage deposit of £100-£250 will also be required with the balance. Maximum of 6 persons (including children and babies). Notes: The four star cottage has been completely renovated to an exceptionally high standard, including all modern facilities but keeping all of the original features in the house, including exposed beams in the kitchen, lounge, bathroom and master bedroom. The cosy sitting room has original wooden beams and a working coal fire. It has two large sink-into sofas, flat screen TV with Sky (Freesat) and DVD player. There is a large separate dining room with a dining table to seat 6, two armchairs and a wide-screen TV and DVD player so mum and dad don't have to watch the Tweenies if they don't want to! Complete with a CD player and a great selection of books, DVDs and games, for those quiet nights in. The beautiful country kitchen is fully fitted with pine furniture, ceramic hob and oven/grill, dishwasher, automatic washing machine with dryer, fridge, freezer and microwave. The South facing garden is enclosed and can be viewed from every room in the house making it ideal for our younger guests.

We'd highly recommend this cottage. It was spotless and well-appointed, with lots of useful instructions. We stayed during quite a grey week but the cottage was so cosy it felt like a week of lazy Sundays. The scenery in the area is lovely. The village pub was welcoming with good food. The cottage is well-stocked with books, DVDs and videos, should you need further entertainment. We'll definitely be back and have already recommended it to several friends.

Comfort & Tranquility in The Peak

If you want a comfortable cottage as a base for walking and visiting in the Peak District look no further. It's quiet and well appointed. Which means that everything you need for six persons is available - for once there is adequate cutlery, crockery and a kitchen to match, which is so often not the case. We give it full marks. And the weather was good !

Lilac cottage is furnished to a very high specification with every possible luxury you could wish for, and is set in a delightful quite village surrounded by beautiful scenery. The village pub has a warm and friendly atmosphere serving excellent food. We had a very pleasant stay and hope to return again soon.

Top of the range everything we needed for a great stay.
Cottage was spotless on arrival and welcome pack was a nice touch.
Local area is great for sight seeing and walks etc.
Buxton is only a short drive away and Alton towers is as stated a 40 minute drive through some breath taking countryside. Pool's cavern is also worth a visit on a wet day.
I can recommend and would love to be going back.

Just returned from a week at Lilac cottage and hope to return soon! The cottage was exceptionally well equipped, cosy and warm. Very quiet area but just a short drive to all local attractions.
