This beautiful house is the original settlement on the 'Il Gelso' farm. It is a 17th century building, which has been carefully restored to its original architecture. Restoration has enabled the house to be completely refurbished, while maintaining its original proportions and symmetries. At at 3 km wonderful secluded coves for swimming and diving for mussels. At 25 km Miglianico Golf, designed by the famous American architect Ronald Kirby, offers further leisure’s activities for golf lovers. You can get to the town centre, San Vito Chietino, also on foot along an excellent new cycle path. The building is on two floors. The ground floor has a large living room with an open fireplace and vaulted ceilings, a well-equipped and self-catering kitchen and a bathroom with a *bath and a shower unit. A graceful spiral staircase leads to the upper floor, which has two double communicating bedrooms. There are also a veranda, a spacious portico and a big garden all around the house.

Just 3 km from the farm, you can relax on the beaches of the Abruzzo coast, with its array of small bays and sandy shorelines. The coast at San Vito Chietino and the neighbouring village of Rocca San Giovanni is known as the costa dei Trabocchi, famous for its characteristic fishing huts built on piles, built in the 17th century and still in use to this day. The sea in this area is so pristine and crystal clear that for several years both villages have earned the coveted Blue Flag award from Legambiente (the biggest Italian environmental organisation). The Abruzzo National Park is about an hour’s drive along an excellent wide dual carriageway. Lovers of history and architectural beauty will enjoy Lanciano, the ancient Roman city of Anxanum, regarded as one of the most interesting sites in Abruzzo and located just 10 km from San Vito Chietino. Other sites not to be missed are the castle at Roccascalegna and the abbey of San Giovanni in Venere founded in the 8th century.

Description of Il Gelso property : This house is part of the property IL GELSO a certified organic farm. The name comes from a wonderful mulberry tree, which was planted here many centuries ago. Local people used to call it the fairy tree. IL GELSO is 125 metres above sea level and at 3 km from the coastline. From more than five generations our family has run this farm. Thanks to a south - east aspect and the limestone nature of the soil, the place is excellent to grow vines and olives trees. We became members of the Italian Association for Organic Agriculture, A.I.A.B., in 1993. A.I.A.B. is an internationally recognised organisation associated with I.F.O.A.M. (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements). Today, we produce and sell organic wines (I.G.T. and D.O.C.) and extra-virgin olive oil with an A.I.A.B. guarantee mark, certified by I.C.E.A.

Great house - Nice people - Beautyful surroundings

We (2 couples - 4 people) really enjoyed staying at this house. The house is just as on the pictures. Very nice terrace and garden right next to a beautyful vineyard. Fully working kitchen and two very nice and large double rooms. Nothing negative to be said about the house. The beaches and the shopping mall is a couple of kilometers away so a car is pretty necessary.

The owner of the house, Annalisa, is very kind, helpfull and friendly and lives only 5 minutes away. We can only recommend the house to everybody who wants a silent spot in the middle of a vineyard just 3 kilometers from the beaches. Perfect. Thanks for a super week.
