Lying in the heart of the beautiful Dordogn countryside, the accommodation is ideally placed for a quiet holiday, with the opportunity to visit and explore the many treasures that this area has to offer. Steeped in history, from the settlements of prehistoric man, and the caves at Lacaux, the area shows how mans' legacy has shaped the area. The Hundred Years war is marked by numerous Bastide towns and chateaux., several having been used in film sets for well known films. Many of the local wines can be sampled at the chateaux. There are glorious gardens to see, many with beautiful views of the river valleys.
Activities:
For those seeking something more active, the area offers an ideal walking and cycling environment, with wildlife and wonderful birdlife abundant. The 'Nautique' across the river, has a water skiing school, and there is canoeing available, as well as the opportunity for fishing. In fact, the river along much of its length offers these facilities, and it is possible to see the different characteristics of the countryside but traveling along the river in a canoe or the traditional boats used for moving freight. Just the other side of Le bugue is an aqua canter, and a theme park aimed at small children.
Those wanting sport can find golf, three or four clubs, a short drive away, tennis at the campsite in Tremolat and bicycle hire is readily available in the area. About fifty miles away is a velo rail centre, which is a great day out for the family.
