The flat is light, airy and very comfortable. The sitting-room, bedroom and kitchen all have French windows opening onto the balcony. We’ve decorated it throughout in greys, with old painted French furniture and lots of colourful rugs and cushions. It still has the original oak floorboards, newly stripped and varnished.
The sitting-room has a large angled sofa, which turns in moments into the most ingenious additional double bed. There’s a little dining-table and chairs, a flat-screen television with DVD plus telephone and WiFi broadband. There’s a CD player, and bookshelves with lots of books on Paris.
The bedroom has a king-size bed, a pretty desk which can double as a dressing-table, and a whole wall of cupboards. There’s room to unpack everything - you can even tuck away your suitcases.
The kitchen, which also has French windows onto the balcony, is the best planned small space you’ve ever seen. It’s got an electric hob, fridge with freezer compartment, oven which is a microwave, grill and a conventional oven as well, and a washing-machine. We love to cook and eat in quite often while we’re there – the food shops are so tempting – so there are plenty of plates, glasses and cutlery and lots of pots and pans, dishes and sharp knives.
