Photos and Description of this Isle of Skye & Lochalsh holiday cottage
Holiday cottage isle of Skye, Highlands

This charmingly modernised 1880's-built 'Butt & Beinne' is a romantic place for (second !) honeymooners or self catering holidaymakers to get away from it all. Sit and watch the tides from the picture window, visit the Otter Hide or, on walks along the shore, see seals and the occasional sea eagle. There are breathtaking views in every direction and the cottage is reached over a sturdy wooden bridge. It is 90 meters from the shore. Arrive 'Over the sea to Skye' in true romantic fashion via the five car ferry from Glenelg (operating only from Easter to October but check with Glenelg-Kylerhea Ferry website first.) A very scenic 10 mile drive takes you to a full range of shops, restaurants, hotels and a bank in Broadford, whence boat and fishing trips are available from the pier there. To see full internal shots of the house and to book other dates, please contact owner for link.

Beautiful Area - Ideal away from it all

Review Submitted: November 21, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
We really enjoyed our holiday. The weather was cold but sunny with very little rain. We were very snug and cosy in the cottage. It had all we needed to enjoy our first trip to Skye. Definitely need a car to get around. Stunning views from the cottage.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words and the review - "Haste Ye back !" as the light, the climate and the views of the Misty Isle are as variable as one can find anywhere.

Honeymoon heaven

Review Submitted: October 24, 2010 Date of Stay: October 2010
We visited Isle of Skye early October and absolutely loved it. We chose it as our honeymoon destination and for me it was the best holiday I have ever had. The cottage is very nice, clean and comfortable: the scenery is out of this world. We had our car, which we used all the time. It is necessary, if you want to go food shopping and see places on the island. But on the other hand if you prefer to be left alone, this is exactly the place you want to visit. I personally loved sitting on the beach (few meters away from the cottage) with glass of wine, watching seals. I would highly recommend this place as it is just magical. Do not miss Talisker destilery, Creelers (restaurant in Broadford) and many more......

Fantastic 'get away from it all' retreat

Review Submitted: January 12, 2010 Date of Stay: September 2009
A superb cosy cottage for our first trip to Skye. Views from the cottage fantastic - a superb setting. Quite a long slow but scenic drive to 'civilisation' but we expected that and took plenty of provisions so we could be self-sufficient. The weather was (we were told) exceptionally sunny and warm for September - we were hoping for at least one stormy day to savour the atmosphere but it didn't happen!
On the days when we weren't exploring the island we spent all day sitting outside reading and taking in the scenery (plus a bottle or two of wine).
We missed having a radio but not sure if the reception would be good enough as the car radio struggled...
The ferry was very handy and allowed us to explore Glenelg and the mainland opposite too.
