The estate, featured on the BBC is an 18C historic farmhouse (Casa Padronale) set in large, fully fenced secure grounds on the hills of eastern Tuscany overlooking a large beautiful lake. The English owners, Robert an orchestral conductor and Sarah a potter live in a neighbouring house on the farm estate, and have won acclaim for their restorations of listed historical properties in the UK (Daily Telegraph, Sunday Times, Period House, Period Property). Robert & Sarah looked at over 60 properties around Tuscany before they happened upon the estate in 2004 and its neighbouring town Anghiari, and knew instantly this was the place where they wanted to be. The location is truly breathtaking and unspoilt - it is in fact just like being in paradise.

• For those who want to rent the optional studio sleeping upto 5 more guests (total 13 including the main house) the cost is just £750. This optional studio is only rented to those renting the main house to ensure privacy.
  
• The above rates are quoted in British Pounds. If you decide to book, we ask you to pay a deposit of 25% into our English bank account to secure the property. We will hold the property for you for 7 days to allow you plenty of time to arrange the transfer. The balance is payable on your arrival in cash in British Pounds. We do not apply currency surcharges.

Calcinaia has recently been subjected to a ‘no expenses spared’ restoration (completed May 2007) of the most exacting standards using original & antique materials – every ceiling is beamed and has the original hand-made pianelle tiles. There are cut stone door and window surrounds throughout, and all the original terra cotta floor tiles have been re-laid. All the rooms have high ceilings and the generously sized double bedrooms are en-suite. The house has its own 12x6m pool. The house is over 250sqm (2690 square feet)

Sarah (owner) has a small pottery studio at Calcinaia. Many guests have explored the delights of working with clay with Sarah in her studio, either on the potters wheel of hand building. So if you have one of those rare wet and windy days, why not try the delights of clay building yourself. If you just want to stay in at Calcinaia one evening, why not use the services of our professional chef who will come into your Kitchen and prepare a wonderful feast for you, and even do the washing up for you leaving the kitchen spotless. On a hot evening, you can have the feast served on the terrace overlooking the lake and observe the wonderful sunset whilst drinking your own wine and enjoying the company of your friends whilst knowing you don't have to drive home.
