Pollenca - Four miles inland from Puerto Pollenca is the cosmopolitan and elegant old town of Pollenca. The name originally dates from the 14th century when settlers from nearby Alcudia named the town after their former Roman Capital. Among the many remaining historic buildings is a former Jesuit convent, which is now used as the local town hall. It is here that the Sunday morning market is held in the Placa Major Square, selling local produce. One of the most popular cultural attractions is the cypress tree lined Calvari steps which lead up to the tiny Calvari church with its ancient wooden cross and magnificent views, looking back over the old town and down to the bay of Pollenca. The old town is known for its many quality restaurants

Alcudia - The original old town of Alcudia is two miles inland from the coastal development and parts of the town date back to around 1300. It was the Phoenicians and Greeks who first settled here, closely followed in the 2nd century BC by the Romans, who made Alcudia the capital of the island. Today, visitors to the old town enter the narrow streets through one of the two gates constructed, along with the impressive city walls, after the conquest of the island by King Jaime I of Spain. Formentor - The 20km drive from Puerto Pollenca to Mallorca's most northerly point has scenery as dramatic as anyone could wish for. Six kilometres from Puerto Pollenca you reach the Mirador des Colomer - climb up the steps for great views over a rocky inlet. Opposite the steps, a path leads to an old watch tower from which you can see the whole of the peninsula as well as the bays of Pollenca and Alcudia.
