Isla Canela (translated to Cinamon Island) is a beautiful place with miles of unspoilt beaches which stretch as far as the eye can see. Much of the Canela area is a protected nature reserve with regular visits from flamingos and rarely seen wildlife at various times of the year. It boasts a variety of bars and restaurants and an impressive harbour with a wide choice of trips & watersports to choose from . It is no surprise that the Spanish come every year for their holidays . Ayamonte , the nearest town , is about 2 kilometres away and gives a great glimpse of traditional Spanish life. The centre is packed with great restaurants ,cafes, shops & bars and runs parallel with Ayamonte harbour . While you are here you must visit Isla Christina, Punta Umbria , Huelva & Seville . Cross the impressive suspension bridge or take the ferry trip across the river Guardiana to Portugal and visit Villa Real, Monte Gordo & Tavira with great beaches and architecture to mention a few

Accommodation: The apartment is finished to a very high standard including granite work surfaces, fitted wardrobes & marble flooring. It is set in lovely private gardens dotted with palm trees. The large balcony has a dining table and chairs for alfresco dining and loungers are provided for balcony/poolside use. There are folders that are left in the apartment supplying lots of information about the area places to see & visit places to eat ,local taxi information etc . There are several tennis and basketball courts on the complex as well as a small children's play area with swings & slides please ask for details. There are two pools a large olympic size & a small childrens pool , a life guard is available throughout the high season but not in the quieter periods . Isla Canela golf offers a great golf course, driving range , putting green, 2 bowling greens and a fantastic clubhouse. Please do not smoke inside the apartment,If you do smoke please do so on the balcony..

Costa de la Luz/ Huelva province: The Costa De La Luz ( Coast of light) and one of Spain's best kept secrets forms part of the Andalucian coast facing the Atlantic Ocean boasting brilliant fine sandy beaches that stretch for miles. Popular with Spanish holidaymakers it remains unspoilt by the mass tourism that some of the other Spanish Costas have suffered. With an average of 300 days of sunshine per year there is always a warm & friendly atmosphere present. Huelva the closest large city to Ayamonte has its own museum with various archaeological finds and is said to be the starting point of Columbuses famous voyage. There is also a large water park in nearby Cartaya as well as go-carting to keep the kids happy. Seville is a must see while you are here it is about an hour away but is simply stunning a definite must see.

How to get there: Isla Canela & Ayamonte are easily reached via motorway approx 45 minutes from Faro airport in Portugal & 90 minutes from Seville airport . All the budget airlines fly to these popular airports ( Flybe , Thompsonfly , BMi baby, Monarch and Easy Jet etc and all major car rental companies are in operation at a reasonable cost. We can arrange airport transfers if required. We have detailed directions and additional information that we supply on confirmation of bookings...including places of interest and detailed maps & directions, taxi numbers & places to eat etc.

Golf: Isla Canela offers a great course a few minutes away from the apartment.The 18 hole par 72 course is dotted with palm and olive trees and water features on 10 of the 18 holes there is a driving range and putting green for practice and a very impressive clubhouse ,there are a further 12 courses within 40 minutes drive 3 of them championship courses in Costa de la Luz.The property is literaly 2 miles from the Portuguese border via the impressive suspension bridge giving access to the fantastic courses on the Algarve,

Great Property great area

We stayed at the property early June, 6 of us in total, 2 adults, 2 teenages and 2 young children, the apartment was excellent very clean and spacious,we had full contact with the management company of the apartment which was reassuring as they were on hand 24 hours a day,the balcony has a fantastic view over the pool, as we went ealry season we virtually had the pool to ourselves most days which my children loved, the beaches near by(approx 10 min drive or 25 min walk) are beautiful and clean some of the best ive seen in spain,Ayamonte town 15-20min drive is fantastic,lovely restaurants, people and a zoo in the middle of the local park,a short drive or trip on a ferry from Ayamonte town and you are in portugal, well worth a day out,this apartment for us was perfect for a family holiday. A car is recommended if you want to get out and about, we walked in to isla canella each night(25mins each way)there is a great range of small restaurants,cafes bars,We will defo look to rent this apartment again for a holiday in the future.

Holiday in August 2009

We stayed in this apartment / complex in August for approx 2 1/2 weeks with our two little girls. We booked direct with Gary the owner and i must say that every contact i have had with him has been excellent. He has always been very obliging and given me any information we needed.

On arrival at the apartment we found it to be very clean and tidy with an endless supply of fresh towels which was very nice. Another luxury we found in the apartment was that each room had air conditioning which was very much needed during our stay as the temperatures were exceedingly hot and we found that we used this most evenings.

The apartment / area is great for families and children. It feels very safe and secure and our children played for many nights on their bikes riding around the gardens and playing on the play area. The view from the balcony is great and looks direct on to the pool and play area. It is a very relaxing complex and quiet. We like the position of El Rincon as it is only a short drive / bike ride to the beaches, marina and town. We had a car ourselves as we drove from England rather than fly. A car is highly reccomended wherever you stay in isla canela or ayamonte, however we did use a taxi once or twice and there was always a plentiful supply. Although beware, the taxis don't run as late as they do at home so don't get caught out.

The pool area was great. The pool was probably one of the largest we have had. It also wasn't too deep which was a little better for our girls.

The apartment was well equiped in the kitchen and it is great eating on the covered balcony, however we did sample the local cuisine quite a lot. We found the food in the Andaluscian very good, they offer a good range of spanish and english food. They have regular entertainment as well including kareokes, flamenco etc. The chiringitos are also a great place to sample some traditional spanish food, the Bombadill being one of our favourites.

We go to Isla Canela most years for our family holiday and we would highly reccomend the place and this apartment. I am already looking at dates for next year.

Unspoiled Costa de La Luz

Family with young child and teenager. For us this was a welchosen holiday for some peace and quiet. Really loved the appartment, big, well furnitured and kitchen well-equiped. Washingmachine, ioner and other private stuff are welcome things on a holiday!Also recommendations to see places. Great terrace, wich we loved sitting on and watch the pool and gardens. Kids loved the pool, you can also swim in the evening if you like. Great view! with this view you get your head clear and I even started my writing again, so thank you Gary! Used also the tenniscourt a lot! Rackets are availeble in the appartement, great service! We rented a car and that is something you really need if you wish to see things. We went to Albufeira, Portugal for 3 days, really nice and you're there in just 1 hour, but we were also glad to return to our peace and quiet. Tavira and Porto Mondo, Portugal are really nice places to see.
Isla Canela and also Punta de Moral have great wonderfull beaches, also super for little children, onlu a few minutes by car. Also great restaurants with lots of different food.You'r in Portugal in 15 minutes and in a big shopping centre in Ayamonte within 10 min. wich was open from 10-22! Ayamonte is a really nice town were you can find everyting you will need and nice terraces for drinks. There is a little zoo in the middle of the centre with BIG animals, very nice.
The Gipsymarket, just outside of town is nice to visit and the touristoffice has a lot of nice recommendations to visit places(but all in Spanish)
Everything is well organised through a company who provides the key for the appartemnt and is availeble for 24 hrs. Great place and I will definitly recommand it to others!

We stayed at this apartment early part of March this year ,myself , the hubby & 3 kids ranging from 7 -14 the apartment was probably the best we have stayed in in all our years of visiting Spain with everything we needed,we had an absolutely great time the beaches are fantastic and the scenery in the area is breathtaking ,there was always something to see or do and the kids had plenty to keep them occupied,
We did nt know a lot about the area before we arrived but hope to come back next year ,it is nice to get a feel of a real Spanish town, I dont think there are many places like this left ,we think its a hidden gem

Our family Holiday 2007

Our family that consisted of my wife, 2 year old son,his grandparents & myself stayed, for a sun / golfing / sightseeing holiday, at this appartment for a week in July 2007.
This property was "top notch" as being recently developed everything was nearly brand new (some items were still shop sealed). i could tell no "expense was spared". All rooms were very roomy & we never felt "on top of each other" during our stay. The kitchen was a reasonable size for 2 "cooks" & the utensils were plentiful. We also spent many sociable evenings on the large balcony with views of the pool and holes 5 & 6 of the isla canella golf club.
The pool & surrounding area is huge & relatively quiet, there were only other families doing the same as us. Also our son loved the kiddies pool. The pool area is surrounded by a small fence, we was told they close the pool for an hour during the day, but i didnt see it happen.
The local town is about half hour walk away & the amazing isla canella beach is about 25 minutes walk in the opposite direction. There is a regular bus service in operation
Golf.... Ah Golf... Amazing! we played the ajoining golf course (isla canella) 3 times, quite challenging, but very enjoyable for all levels of golfer. There is a great clubhouse for food and drinks,the patio area overlooks a bowling green & is very quiet & relaxed. The service was very friendly too.
We hired a car for our stay and played surrounding courses. We didnt need to prebook any course we played - we just turned up.
The location of this appartment was great because we could jump in the car and go sightseeing / golfing round that part of Spain or cross the bridge (border) and be in Portugal / Algarve easily within 20-25 minutes.
An overall summary of this appartment would be to say its location is ideal for golfing / sightseeing / relaxing. A hire car would defineatly be an advantage for shopping / taking golf clubs & those who dont fancy walking to the beach. The cleanliness & newness made the feel of this appartment amazing. There were other developements finishing nearby (this did not affect our holiday at all) one appartment block & we were told a few shops & restaurants were springing up soon, which would be very convenient. You have also got your own parking space. Anyway we will be rebooking, if not this year,definetly next....
