'The French House' a spacious luxury villa, available for holiday lets throughout the year, with a great private pool, set in a Mediterranean garden. In the lively village of Magalas, with lots of village shops nearby, our holiday home is ideal for a peaceful and comfortable stay. Architect-designed, it is roomy and convenient, yet allows for peace and privacy if desired. We have furnished and equipped the villa for maximum comfort and relaxation. The villa is an easy 30 minute drive from a choice of seaside resorts and beaches, and a similar distance from the glorious Parc Naturel of the Haut Languedoc, with its mountains, lakes and tumbling rivers. Yet the village itself is peaceful and relaxing, away from the hurly-burly of the coast. For those who need it, the house is specifically designed to be wheel-chair friendly, and previous disabled guests have confirmed that it is both convenient and comfortable. Ideal for a sunny, relaxing holiday en-famille or with friends.

Magalas is a lively and friendly village, with a range of shops and cafes - there are three boulangers to choose from for your morning croissant - only five minutes walk away! There is also an excellent supermarket on the fringes. Nearby is the delightful historic market town of Pezenas, whilst the chic university city of Montpelier, with its great shops, is only forty five miles away. The vast Languedoc beaches are an easy drive, with a wide choice of both family resorts and unspoilt coastline. Inland the Parc Naturel, with the huge Lac du Salagou is a natural joy, offering climbing, walking, riding, sailing and all manner of sports and activities in a beautiful setting. Vineyards are everywhere - from the Appelation Controllee villages of St Chinian and Faugeres to local growers whose products you are welcome to taste and buy. The area abounds in history, from the Roman remains of Nimes to the soaring castles of the Cathars, and a World Heritage site - the famous Canal du Midi.

  • Rentals are normally Saturday to Saturday (although broken dates will be considered out of high season)
    Payment is acceptable in Pounds or Euros.
    We ask for 30% deposit to confirm the booking, with the balance payable 2 months before the start of the rental.
    A breakages deposit of £200 is required with the final payment - this will be refunded upon your return.

  • Bathrooms are large and light, and fully tiled. All three showers are of the flat-floored 'wet-room' style for easy access. Two bathrooms are truly en-suite, whilst the third is immediately adjoining its bedroom. (A shower wheelchair is available on request for those who require it).

  • All three bedrooms are roomy and comfortable - we paid special attention to the quality of the beds for a relaxing stay. Two have en-suite bathrooms, whilst the third has its own bathroom adjoining. All have ample built-in wardrobe space and hangers, and each bedroom has a hairdryer provided. A cot is available at no extra charge for an infant, as is a high-chair. All the bedrooms are light and airy, and each has French doors leading onto its own terrace. Fans are provided for hot weather, although the house's clever design means it always stays noticeably cooler indoors.

Wonderful modern villa on edge of village

Having booked "The French House" from the internet, we were wondering (As you do!), can this villa possibly be as good as the description? Well be reassured, it's better! Firstly, on arrival, we were struck by how clean and tidy everything was, and the towels neatly stacked on the beds, and a few few welcoming goodies, milk, butter and fruit, plus a bottle of wine. Very thoughtful. Having rented many holiday properties over the past 30 years, we have never found one with such a well equipped kitchen. Amazing!! The only downside for us was the swimming pool, as we like to swim "properly", maybe 1000/1500 metres a day, and this was a leisure pool only (Although we knew this before hiring and took a week off from serious swimming) Our only serious regret was that we booked one week, not a fortnight!
