Les Vignes, a 100 year old Normandy Farmhouse offers exceptionally comfortable and attractive accommodation for up to 8 adults plus 3 children. There are 3 large bedrooms, one with a mezzanine/4th bedroom/playroom, all with stunning views across the garden and beyond to the hills of the Suisse Normande. The 2 lovely sitting-rooms both have French windows to the garden; one has a baby grand piano, a further living room has an open fire and French doors to a south facing patio and the gardens. There is a very well equipped kitchen and a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Les Vignes is within easy reach of the D day landing beaches and all local outdoor sporting activities

Pont D'Ouilly - a pretty riverside town

Pont D'Ouilly is a small, quaint, and very pretty unspoilt riverside town. Among its facilities are 2 patisseries, butcher, post office, pharmacy, garage, mini supermarket, 2 bars and 5 good restaurants which between them offer a wide range of excellent regional cuisine. There is a fresh fish market every Friday and a general market on Sundays throughout the year. A tea dance on the river bank takes place every Sunday during the summer. There is a park with children's play area and tennis courts. A swimming pool is within 7 kms. Canoes and kayaks can be hired, and there are many beautiful walks and mountain bike routes, some short and easy, others long and challenging. One and two week fishing licences are available.

The Suisse Normande is an area of outstanding natural beauty; rivers, deep gorges, rugged hills, deep forests and a shoreline with miles of sandy beaches, a coastal area ideal for sand yachting, wind surfing and sailing. Les Vignes is perfectly situated for touring this area; the spectacular scenery and unusual wildlife is an artist's paradise; the tranquillity of the farmhouse and gardens provides a haven for peace and relaxation but is within easy reach of all local activities, good restaurants and a night life.

Calvados - a gastronomic and cultural paradise

Apple blossom, Cider, Pommeau, Apple Brandy, beef,pork, veal, cream, butter and cheese are what comes to mind when thinking of Calvados.Famous for its regional gastronomy, the cheeses of Pont l'Eveque, Camembert and Livarot are produced within this region. The sea shores are lined with mussel beds; seafood features strongly in the local cuisine. Other gastronomic regional delicacies are apple or pear sorbets flamed with Calvados or drenched with Pommeau and served with locally produced creme fraiche or feather light sponges filled with almond cream or confit of fruit laced with apple or pear brandy. An area of immense historic and cultural interest there are the landing beaches, cemeteries and museums, the ancient castles of William the Conqueror, numerous chateaux, gardens, zoological parks and the fromageries at Camembert and Livarot to be visited.
