Hacienda Riquelme Golf Resort holiday apartment "Casa Gray" in Sucina

We booked this property at short notice, wanting a pre christmas break from all the hustle and bustle. The owner, Duncan was very helpful and we quickly went through the booking process.
Instructions on arrival were very clear and directions to the resort were spot on and easy to follow. The keyholder met us at the gate and helpfully showed us around the property and how everything worked.
The apartment is lovely and homely with everything we needed. The WIFI connection was a real plus as my husband needed to stay in contact with his office. The resort is lovelyand was very quiet but the golf course was in regular use. We found the Cason restaurant to be very good and the bar was busy and very friendly atmosphere. The supermarket was fantastic and very good value for all our needs.
We went up into the little town of Sucina for a night and had a meal at the Chilli Pepper indian restaurant, Sunny,The owner was very friendly and the meal was top notch. It is a lovely little town with church square and has a very traditional spanish feel to it. We hope to come back again in the summer months for a longer visit to see what this lovely region has to offer. Many thanks to the owners for letting us stay in there apartment.

I booked Duncan's apartment at the very last minute as a restful getaway at a quiet time of year - the booking went through very fast - a simple phone call set everything up - and additionally Duncan gave me advice on car hire (doyouspain.com) which turned out to be excellent - 17 days car hire for around £150 with a free upgrade and no hassles. Booking and arrangements could not have been easier, and I was met at the apartment and showed how everything worked.

The resort is terrific - very quiet in Oct/Nov which is exactly what I needed, with daytime temps of a perfect 26C. The apartment is exactly like the photos - very well equipped & furnished, everthing you might possible need, and ideally located with the private little garden facing the sun all day, and just a few flip-flops from the pool. Peeking at the other apartments on the huge site it was clear that this is one of the best-sited apartments to catch the sun and use the pool.

The golf resort itself is very well kept and the security staff are professional, friendly and keep everything feeling very safe without being at all intrusive. Hacienda resort has a good "feel" - everything is well kept and happy. The pool and surrounding areas are cleaned every day. I was not looking for bars, clubs or restaurants - and the only site facility I used was the supermarket, which was fine - similar to a Tesco Express, with fresh milk, bread and sandwiches each day and a huge range of everything needed for a self-catering holiday - I did not need to venture any further for shopping.

I found 2 really great advantages to this apartment - the thoughtful & generous free use of Duncan's WiFi, which was a very fast connection and kept me in touch every day (and could have been an expensive extra), and then the free use of Duncan's mountain bike(s) which are a great healthy way of getting to Sucina for a mooch around and (even better) heading up into the hills where there are some great mountain views and a surprising number of off-road cycling paths - with information boards at the side of the road. Fantastic. Best to go cycling early on before the day hots up, though!

In short, a great quality comfortable luxury apartment rental. No nightlife (a plus in my book). No hassle, flexible, well organised and thoughtful apartment rental. Even a stock of books and DVDs in the sitting room. I would happily go again tomorrow. Huge thanks!

We've just returned from a week at Casa Gray, late August 2011. What can I say? The apartment is fantastic - it's well equipped with everything you could need for a family holiday (kids aged 9 to 15). This was the first time we've rented an apartment instead of the usual all-inclusive deal so we were a little apprehensive at the start ... but the whole experience was amazing right from booking with Duncan, then arriving late on a Friday and being met by the property services people who were really firendly and showed us the main facilities.

Hiring a car is a must - you just cannot get around any other way. Roads are generally quiet and majority are dual carriageways. Directions from the airport to the apartment were spot on! We had no trouble parking outside the apartment block, and there is a reserved space in the basement, if you prefer.

The location provides the perfect base to either explore the local attractions or relax by the on-site pool which is right outside the ground-floor apartment. Pool was regularly cleaned.

On-site supermarket is well-stocked with plenty of British food and the like. Reasonably priced, and there is a larger supermarket in Sucina for anything else you need.

There is a small information centre on-site near the main site entrance. The people here were really firendly and helpful and suggested a number of places to go.

Things to do... the mud baths at Lo Pagan are well worth a visit. The locals will show you what to do and it's free! The beach area is also really clean and not particularly busy. We spent the whole day here!

The Aqua Natura water park near Murcia is a must for families with kids. It's not too big, or busy but caters for kids of all ages and swimming abilities. Look around for discount deals though as the prices are a little steep (normally £23 adults, £18 kids). We were lucky that there was a promotion on at the time, and the information centre had a spare voucher.

Los Alcazares is only 20 minutes away but has large supermarkets, outdoor markets and loads of restaurants most of which are child-friendly. We paid £70 for meal for 6. The promenade is quiet with plenty of small bars - an enjoyable walk, the kids loved watching the airplanes coming into Murcia airport !!

All-in-all we've had a fantastic time and would definitely return again next year!
