Near La Rochelle and beaches 20 mins
We are situated in the Charente Maritime on the west coast of France. Nearby are the historic towns of La Rochelle and Rochefort. This area is rich in History with many forts, Romanesque churches, castles and Chateau. Sandy beaches just 20 mins. The 17th century Farmhouse and Pigeonnier have recently been renovated to a very high standard. We are surrounded by rolling countryside with fields of sunflowers and wheat, close to a pretty Charentaise village with local shop, bar, post office and famously local restaurant specializing in local cuisine. Nearby there’s fishing, cycling, pony riding and lovely country walks. The Pigeonnier:- Studio style accommodation, self contained on one level, lounge area with a double bed settee, tv, dvd player, large fireplace with a woodburner, a separate well equipped kitchen and shower room. Large double bed, mezzanine that can sleep upto 2 children. Outside there are table and chairs, bbq, large garden, children's play area and free hire of cycles.

Sandy beaches are just a 20mins drive away at Chàtelaillon-Plage or Fouras (35 Mins) both are quaint small seaside resorts with beautiful sandy beaches, dotted with bars, restaurants and Casino's. . La Rochelle is a lively vibrant city with lots of atmosphere, along the fortified port there’s numerous cafés and bars, boating marina, boat trips to the local islands and fort Boyard, Aquarium, museums, bowling, animal park, casino, fantastic shops and boutiques, lots of seafood restaurants and beaches. Easy access to the local islands of Ile de Re with the beautiful fishing ports of St. Martin and La Flotte, Ile d'Oleron, Ile d'Aix and Ile Madam Venise Vert is about a 30mins drive north from here, a totally different experience with an intricate canal system to explore, you can hire kayaks or even electric boats for the whole family. Great days out can be had at Puy de fou, Futurescope, Cognac, Zoo, Wild bird reserves, Corderie Royale, etc. You'll find something to suit everyone.

In the village of Landrais there is an artist studio, it's possible to arrange an hours lesson in painting 20 euro's per hour (it would be ideal if you have a good level of French).
