Staff:
The house is fully staffed - all at the house every day.
The housekeeper will run errands for you too, and take you round the Souks. He'll suggest places to visit and arrange restaurant bookings etc. He speaks good French and some English.
The cook is the BEST! You can ask him to do specific meals for you if you like, or just leave him to provide feasts of his choice - they are always superb.
Wine and alcohol can be provided too - it's not easy to get in the local shops, being a Muslim country, but the staff will arrange to buy it in.
The cleaner speaks only Arabic - she'll do all your laundry for you in a day; and she keeps the house spotless at all times.
The Souks:
The two Taroudant Souks are fabulous - but best to go with someone from the house who can show you round and advise. You will find everything Moroccan there, including ceramics, leather, carpets, antiques, fabrics, shoes, jewellery - and much much more. And masses of it all!
And the tannery just outside the town walls is fascinating, and a good place to see the leather process from animal to handbag, and buy for great prices.
The Mountains:
Trekking in the mountains is one of the most popular local activities for visitors - but take a guide. It's lovely to go up for a night or two into the mountains, sleep in the local Berber homes and be fed on delicious local food - and walk and walk with the most sensational vistas all around you. And the goats climbing trees .....
