Villa Hannah at Panos Stalos

We were 2 families with grown up kids and had a fantastic time at villa Hannah, thanks to David and Sandra (and Tina) for a great villa in a beautiful location. The villa is very tranquil and we were amazed that nobody was bitten by mosquitos at all, we didn't see any! (early July) All of the rooms have air conditioning, and a welcome wind through the hills sometimes make this unecessary. The views are stunning from the villa and pool area, which enjoys the sun for most of the day, except early evening as the sun goes down. A well located bbq next to the pool was used a couple of times and is welcome for a night in. We were a party of 8 and the accommodation was perfect, with a separate smaller apartment for 2 of our children, which they enjoyed, and right next to the pool too. The local village about 1.5kms down the hill has good tavernas and all reasonably priced. If you want to walk to the village be prepared for a steep return and take a torch as there are no lights between the village and villa, we didn't and had to designate a driver each time. The beaches which are only 2.5kms down the hill are very good (blue flag) with plenty of bars and tavernas overlooking the beach. This is a busy resort, so if you are looking for a secluded spot you need to go further afield. It is comforting to know that there are English speaking owners close by if there are any problems (for example, a flat car battery, which was our own fault, but soon put right!) We decided to fly to Heraklion as it was cheaper and thought the extra fuel cost for the longer drive would be negligible. Don't do this if you don't have to as the drive is long and tiresome, although the road is good, you are always at the mercy of drivers with death wishes! The local car hire company recommended (Kreta Rental) were very good too. A car is necessary unless you don't intend to leave the villa. I would highly recommend this villa to friends, and would definately return. If you are looking for the height of luxury, this isn't for you, but if you want an uncomplicated, unpretentious holiday with a location and views to die for this ticks all the boxes. Thanks especially to David for your friendliness and attention, you have obviously worked hard to achieve a great holiday location, and an envious lifestyle.
