Food and Wine:
The Piedmont region is a place of traditions, history, centuries-old recipes and delicious specialities. Each province offers the tastiest of dishes prepared with products from this rich land. Piedmont cooking should be explored by making a journey in discovery of tastes - a universe of a thousand colours and flavours to be enjoyed with excellent wines that enhance the flavours of this oldest of culinary traditions.
National Parks in Alessandria:
The extensive Marcarolo National Park is located in the high mountainous area of the Ligurian-Piedmontese Apennines to the extreme south of the province of Alessandria.
The park area lies beneath the massive Mt.Tobbio peak, from which you can enjoy a view of the Ligurian Gulf, which is less than ten kilometres away as the crow flies.
The area is of high botanical interest. Tree growth is often dictated by the climate with trees taking on prostrate and contorted shapes. Not far from the town of Capanne di Marcarolo, horses are available for rides and bicycles are also for hire.
The Italian Hikers Association has marked out a series of routes inside the park: the Costa Lavezzara which runs through one of the park's typical forest areas; the Rio Badana, which is a magnificent stroll through a natural botanical garden winding along the Rio Badana in the midst of rare fragrances and the Veglia, which is a typical forest route.
Golf:
Villa Carolina Golf - 10 minutes by Car. Hic dulcis canitur: “Here one grows old gracefully”.
This is the first message one sees on entering the magical peacefulness of Villa Carolina. Bria Silva designed the course taking into account the wonderful hilly nature of the place.
Full respect for nature, some natural obstacles and the many bunkers along the course and protecting the greens, make it a challenging and selective course.
The 6,274 metres of Villa Carolina require accuracy and distance and all the holes remain firmly in the memory as witness to the character of the course.
The Club House, set in a splendid restored 19th-century villa, welcomes golfers with delightful hospitality at the end of their “labours”.
