Cala d'Or Area holiday chalet: Cala d'or

The photos on this page are of a similar house but not of the house in question. The house was spacious but very poorly equipped in terms of kitchen utensils etc and was very basic. We had to go out and buy some extra mugs and a spatula! There were no wine glasses or a usable toaster. The air conditioning did not work except in one of the bedrooms when we visited in August 2008. The owner sent someone to look at it, but he shrugged his shoulders and it was never fixed. It was clean when we arrived but there was no further cleaning for the whole 2 weeks and we washed the towels and bed linen ourselves. There was a running tap that could not be turned off and no explanation was given regarding hot water - we had to figure it out for ourselves. The owner spoke poor English and after meeting us initially, was not seen again.
On a positive note, the location is just about perfect, particularly for younger children, as it looks out onto two children's pools and the complex itself is fantastic and quiet. Because of the number of swimming pools (we counted 11!), it never got too busy and there was ample room for everyone, with no scrabbling for sunbeds. The area of Cala Egos is good, with easy access to Cala D'Or and the marina. The shops in Cala Egos have everything you need within a very short walking distance, as well as some excellent restaurants (Beatrice's!)
We had a lovely holiday but I would hesitate to recommend this property as it was so poorly furnished and equipped.
