St. Cyprien is a lovely friendly village located just close enough (3km) to its 'plage' sister to give you a proper seaside holiday, yet just far enough away to allow you escape the holiday throng and experience real French village life. The 5 minute morning walk to the nearest Boulangerie is still very much a part of life here. 5 minutes walk takes in the entire village including its post office, 2 banks with ATMs, its new Spar superette, its excellent take-out pizza restaurant and 2 full service restaurants. The Charcuterie's repertoire of tasty pre-cooked dishes makes the kitchen almost redundant. Over at the 'Plage' (actually a separate village less than 3km away), it's a different world and it leaves you in no doubt you are on holidays, literally dozens of restaurants and a casino circle the marina and the adjoining beach is served by cafes and souvenir and craft shops.

Lovey house, with everything you'd want in a holiday villa. Comfortable bedrooms, small but welcome pool and in a nice quiet area (although) quite near a main road.
It's not easy to find so make sure you request accurate directions - we spent an hour driving around in the scorching heat. Don't rely on satnav because the road name is different from TomTom anyway.
It's about 10 minutes walk to the small town centre with a few shops and cafes, and loads of bakers.
Argeles-sur-Mer was a horrible place as was St Cyprien Plage. Head towards Collioure (busy but beautiful so leave early) and Le Racou for swimming.
