Shopping and restaurants

Lanquais has its own small shop and restaurant 5 mins walk from the house. Couze, and St Capraise de Lalinde, are each a slightly longer walk, or drive away (about 3km), and offer more restaurants and shops. The market town of Lalinde is only 5km away with a selection of shops and supermarkets and restaurants. It has a busy food market every Thursday. Bergerac is the nearest city with excellent shopping, an old city to wander through for souvenir shopping and a huge number of restaurants from cosy local dining to high quality haute cuisine. All the local towns have a weekly market and we have a list of the best of them in the house. We also list contact details for local restaurants with our own and other guests reviews.

Family holidays and tourism

If you should happen to tire of the large (11m) pool, and large private garden, there is plenty to do on a Peigord holiday. Canoing on the Dordogne, pre-historic parks and sites, the aqua-park, large indoor aquarium, go-carting, golf, tennis, just some of the activities on offer in the area. Quieter breaks

We have an extensive library in the house with books to suit most tastes, so grab a book and sit on one of our patios, or under the shade of a tree and relax. In cooler weather, throw a log into the stove and curl up in front of the fire in our romantic beamed sitting room. We also have a selection of maps and books for those who want to venture out for a walk, or to see some of the local sights. Wander through small historic towns, stopping only for something to eat, or maybe a souvenir to take home with you.
