The apartment, which was completely renovated to a high standard in 2002 by its English owner, is set above the old harbour of Porto Santo Stefano. The large L-shaped sheltered terrace looks out on to the picturesque town, coastline and beyond the sea to the mainland. Have your breakfast here out in the sun, breathe in the fresh sea air and dine ‘al fresco’. BrIng your laptop and hook up to a fast broadband connection. All rooms have a sea view. There is a grocery store and bar just around the corner and you can walk down the old town steps in about 5 minutes to reach the harbour and central piazza where you will find restaurants, cafès, bars, shops, etc. Here you can sit out in the open and enjoy a drink or meal and watch the world go by, or go for a pleasant stroll along the promenade. Walk down for a quick dip in the sea or take a drive to miles of sandy beaches that are only 10 minutes' away. An ideal base from which to explore the many sights of Tuscany.

The peninsula of Monte Argentario is situated in the southernmost part of Tuscany and is connected to the mainland by two natural sandbanks - Giannella and Feniglia - offering miles of safe, sandy beaches and creating a lagoon on which the colourful town of Orbetello was built. Rent a bike and cycle through the pinewoods at Feniglia or go horse riding at Giannella. Porto Santo Stefano is situated in a picturesque bay. From here you can hire a boat or take a ferry to the nearby islands of Giglio and Giannutri. On the mainland, you will find yourself quickly in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. This is the famous area of Maremma, with nature reserves, pinewood forests, vineyards, olive groves, picturesque towns, medieval villages perched on hilltops, Etruscan and Roman ruins. Don't forget to take a day trip to the spa resort at Saturnia, with its hot sulphur swimming pools - and if you make an early start, you can easily reach Siena, Pisa or Rome in time for a late breakfast!

Additional information about rental rates

  • Changeover dates are flexible, dependent upon other bookings. Discounts are available for longer bookings (please email with requirements and we will try to accommodate you.) Periods shorter than one week will be considered. A 20% surcharge is added for bookings of more than 4 persons (children under 10 excepted).
  • The prices include laundry package (bedlinen, towels, beach towels), gas and (normal*) electricity consumption, broadband Internet access, and final cleaning (provided the property is left in a reasonable state). --- *Central heating during the winter months is automated and is turned on in the mornings and evenings - there is no charge for this. However, if you wish to have extra heating made available for daytime use, a convector heater can be provided and the extra electricity consumption must be paid for.
  • Payment is to be made by PayPal only, in Euros. A non-refundable deposit of 25% is due upon booking and the remaining 75% is to be paid 6 weeks before arrival. The only extra charge is a security deposit of Euro.75-300 (depending on number of persons and length of stay) to be paid in cash upon arrival. This is held against damages and will be returned to you after a satisfactory inspection on your last day.

Notes: The kitchen is fully equipped and you will find everything you desire. There is a small kitchen terrace with an additional sink and washing lines. We provide, for your convenience, essential food and cleaning items. A range of maps and local guide books in English are also available. One of the outstanding features is the large L-shaped terrace with fantastic views - the main terrace, accessible from the lounge area, has a view of the town, harbour and sea extending to beyond Orbetello and is equipped with a large wooden table and 6 chairs so you can enjoy your meals outside. There is also a small swing settee. The second terrace looks over the sea to mainland Maremma and is equipped with a small table, folding chairs and a lounger. One parking space is available within automatic gate. Re. suitability for elderly or infirm: The apartment is located on the second floor and although a lift is available, you have to walk the first and last flight of stairs.

Diese Wohnung kann man nur empfehlen.Die Anfahrt, das Treffen und die Übernahme waren völlig unproblematisch, Alles war sauber und einladend. Die Austattung der Küche ist wirklich sehr gut, massenhaft Töpfe und Pfannen, ausreichend Geschirr und Gläser. Die Bäder sind luxoriös. Die Betten sind sehr gut. Es gibt Bücher und DVDs und viele Reiseführer und örtliche Karten. Der Blick ist wirklich überwältigend schön, morgens vom Bett aus das grünblaue Mittelmeer, abends die malerische Stadt mit ihren Lichtern.
Wenn man mit dem Auto die bergige Straße der Stadt hochgefahren ist, kann man ohne Probleme, sogar mit unserem ziemlich großen Auto, vor oder hinterm Haus parken. Es gibt eine Schranke, für die man einen Schlüssel bekommt.Zu Fuß ist das Meer viel schneller über einige Treppen zu erreichen, auch kann man die Geschäfte und Boutiquen bequem zu Fuß erreichen.
Die Vermieterin war äußerst zuvorkommend (nur auf die Äußerung hin, dass wir planten mit dem Zug nach Rom zu fahren hatten wir am nächsten Tag die Abfahrtszeiten der Züge und zwei Statdpläne) und immer hilfreich, vielen Dank!
Auch mit 3 Kindern im Teenageralter gab es ausreichend Unterhaltung und Attraktionen (W-LAN, Tagesausflüge nach Rom, Siena, Pisa, Geschäfte im Ort, Strand auch im Oktober). Es war alles schöner als erwartet,wir würden gerne wieder kommen!

I am always somewhat wary with regard to internet bookings but I must admit that Casa Verde greatly surpassed our expectations. The apartment is clean, spacious and extremely well equipped. We felt relaxed and content enjoying all our evening meals on the comfortable balcony with the magnificient view of the sea and Porto Santo Stefano. Ros Green is a very capable and pleasant hostess catering with concern to her guests' needs.

Wonderful Casa Verde - August 2009

We stayed at Case Verde during the week of August 22, 2009 and felt immediately at home in this beautiful apartment. The spacious apartment is located in a residential neighborhood close to the town centre, many shops and restaurants. It is also spotless and contains all the necessities to cook for your family.

We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Verde as it provided us with a unique opportunity to live as residents of Porto S. Stefano for a week. After a while, we even got to know local shops owners who were always happy to assist us in spite of our limited knowledge of italian!!!!

Thank you Ros; we will be looking forward to coming back to Casa Verde soon.

We loved Casa Verde!

My family spent a very lovely week at Casa Verde in June 09. The house was better than we expected and the view more spectacular than the photos posted on the website. We were very comfortable in the spacious home and appreciated how well equipped the kitchen is as we did cook many meals at home. Ros and Luciano are very gracious hosts and were very helpful with getting our stay organized, and flexible when we needed to change our dates at the last moment. We enjoyed the Argentario area tremendously - bike riding in Feniglia, day trip to Isola del Giglio, snorkeling just down the steps from Casa Verde, and gelato every day at Le Rose. We are already looking forward to our return next summer. Can't recommend Casa Verde highly enough.
