Casa Verde - Luxury apartment with spectacular views of sea and town

The apartment is set above the harbour of Porto Santo Stefano in Monte Argentario. It was completely renovated to a high standard in 2002 by its English owner. Take time to enjoy the fresh air and spectacular views from the large covered terrace - wonderful at all times - you won't be bugged by mosquitoes as it's quite high up. If you want to bring your laptop you can hook up with a fast broadband connection (7+ Kbps). All rooms have a sea view. There is a grocery store and bar just around the corner and you can walk down the old town steps in about 5 minutes to reach the harbour and central piazza where you will find restaurants, cafès, bars, shops, etc. Here you can sit out in the open and enjoy a drink or snack and watch the world go by, or go for a pleasant stroll along the promenade. Walk down for a quick dip in the sea or take a drive to miles of sandy beaches that are only 10 minutes' away. An ideal base from which to explore the many sights of Tuscany.

The peninsula of Monte Argentario is situated in the southernmost part of Tuscany and is connected to the mainland by two natural sandbanks - Giannella and Feniglia - offering miles of safe, sandy beaches and creating a lagoon on which the colourful town of Orbetello was built. Rent a bike and cycle through the pinewoods at Feniglia or go horse riding at Giannella. Porto Santo Stefano is situated in a picturesque bay. From here you can hire a boat or take a ferry to the nearby islands of Giglio and Giannutri. On the mainland, you will find yourself quickly in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. This is the famous area of Maremma, with nature reserves, pinewood forests, vineyards, olive groves, picturesque towns, medieval villages perched on hilltops, Etruscan and Roman ruins. Don't forget to take a day trip to the spa resort at Saturnia, with its hot sulphur swimming pools - and if you make an early start, you can easily reach Siena, Pisa or Rome in time for a late breakfast!

Notes to the rental rates

  • Changeover dates are flexible, dependent upon other bookings. Discounts are available for longer bookings (please email with requirements and we will try to accommodate you.)
    The prices include laundry package (bedlinen, towels, beach towels), gas and electricity consumption, broadband Internet access, central heating during the winter months, and final cleaning (provided the property is left in a reasonable state).
    Payment is to be made by PayPal only, in either British pounds or Euros. A non-refundable deposit of 25% is due upon booking and the remaining 75% is to be paid 6 weeks before arrival. The only extra charge is a security deposit of Euro.75-300 (depending on number of persons and length of stay) to be paid in cash upon arrival. This is held against damages and will be returned to you after a satisfactory inspection on your last day.
  • Please note for period 15 April to end May 2008. Repair work to the façade of the whole building is to be carried out some time during the above period. At some point, scaffolding will be erected in front of the apartment terrace and there will be some noise and invasion of privacy. If there is any inconvenience whilst you are staying in the apartment, we will give you a refund of between 15-30%. If you want to book for this time, please bear in mind the risk of disturbance.

The kitchen is fully equipped and you will find everything you desire. There is a small kitchen terrace with an additional sink and washing lines. We provide, for your convenience, essential food and cleaning items. A range of maps and local guide books in English are also available. One of the outstanding features is the large L-shaped terrace with fantastic views - the main terrace, accessible from the lounge area, has a view of the town, harbour and sea extending to beyond Orbetello and is equipped with a large wooden table and 6 chairs so you can enjoy your meals outside. There is also a small swing settee. The second terrace looks over the sea to mainland Maremma and is equipped with a small table, folding chairs and a lounger. One parking space is available within automatic gate. Re. suitability for elderly or infirm: The apartment is located on the second floor and although a lift is available, you have to walk the first and last flight of stairs.
