Papaya House is a comfortable bungalow located in Tunapuna, a bustling suburban town eight miles east of the capital, Port of Spain, with much of its activity still centred around the market and town centre. There are four spacious, air-conditioned bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, an open plan living/dining and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped, dining table seats eight, and the lounge is bright and airy. The swimming pool and garden make this the ideal holiday accommodation. There is parking on the property and laundry facilities available. Our house manager lives in an apartment adjoining the house, but with a separate entrance. He will meet you at the airport and can answer any queries and arrange excursions including to our sister isle, Tobago, should you require any assistance with your plans. There is some further information about sights and activities below, limited only by space restrictions. The scenic photos we have also taken ourselves.

This is different to most other holiday homes/villas that have a flat rate regardless of the number of people booking, but OUR POLICY allows us to offer good value to small as well as large groups.

• Rates include COMPLIMENTARY transfers from and to the airport, a daily cleaning service, and for stays of at least a week, a welcome hamper of fresh fruit, bread, butter, eggs, orange juice, cola and a bottle of local rum.

Sightseeing & Activities

There are numerous activities to do and sights to see on a holiday in Trinidad, from swimming in limestone caves, picnicking at a river, investigating the natural asphalt lake, visiting the world famous Asa Wright Nature Centre, hiking to many waterfalls, relaxing on the beaches, watching the Scarlet Ibis at sunset, taking a tour to see the Red Howler Monkeys, and kayaking in the sea, to the renowned carnival and it's associated activities. Within just a 10 minute drive of Papaya House, or a comfortable 45 minute uphill walk, you can reach Mt St Benedict, a Benedictine monastery located 800ft above the plains with wonderful views to the western coast. Further 20 min walk uphill and you will reach the ruins of the original monastery. There are also local museums, art exhibitions and theatre worth checking out.

Biodiversity in Trinidad

Species lists for this island are impressive, including 97 native mammals, 400 birds, 55 reptiles, 25 amphibians, and 617 butterflies, as well as over 2,200 species of flowering plants! House Manager

We have a house manager who lives in an apartment adjoining Papaya House, but with a separate entrance. The house manager will meet you at the airport, be able to answer any queries, and is conveniently nearby should you require any assistance during your stay. He can advise you on arranging your own excursions, or assist you in booking guided tours. You might also like to consider a day trip or a couple of days in Trinidad's sister isle, Tobago, and we can also help you to plan this. The house manager and car can also be hired as your personal driver and tour guide during your stay (for £26 per day - the same, if not cheaper, than a rental car alone!) so that you can be completely stress free, really enjoy the sights, not have to worry about finding your way, or about driving back home after a night out.
