There are 4 main areas in the Gasterteinal, totalling almost 250kms of pistes. Sportgastein has a top height of 2700metres and has a season into May. The pistes are big, wide and undulating and rarely busy. The Graukogel, right next to the apartment, has some challenging reds and blacks, a couple of blues that go through the trees and again, usually is not very busy.

The main area between Bad Gastein and Bad Hofgastein is where most of the pistes lie, with a further big area down the valley at Dorf Gastein.

There has been heavy investment in snow cannons, but even in generally poor snow years, most of the resort has had plenty of snow cover.

Skiing in the valley is varied. The nearest lift to the hotel is the Graukogel, 40 meters away. This is one of the most traditional slopes,favoured by the locals. It has a great restaraunt at the top with the best views in the valley. The main ski area in the town at the Stubnerkogel. This area has had many improvements recently and has Blue, Red and Black routes. This is the best place to ask about ski school for adults and children. From here you can ski to close by areas at Angertal, Badhof Gastein and Dorfgastein. There are good beginners slopes at Angertal.

The skibus leaves every half hour from 10 meters outside the hotel and either takes you into town in 3 minutes or up to the high ski area at 'Sport Gastein'(about 15 minutes) . Here are the more challenging ski areas with some Blue but mainly Red routes. This is where ski teams come to train. There is a good restraunt /facilities at the foot of the mountain with a real ski vibe.
