Chateau Lespinassat, Bergerac, 5/7 bedrooms, ensuites, heated pool
After a two centuries of evolution, this stunning Château took its current appearance in around 1750. Beyond the moats surrounding the Château’s terrace, there are twelve acres of gardens filled with ancient cedars, cypresses and various lime trees. During the same period an ornamental lake was created and you can still observe its inhabitants today : mallards, grey herons and moor hens and the occasional kingfisher and cormorant. The Château bordered by its terrace, boasts a series of welcoming lounges on the ground floor adorned either with panelling or elegant fabric wall coverings. On the first floor there is a vast suite Louis XV decorative panelling and a master bedroom with a beautiful high ceiling and a Regency fireplace, which was discovered during the restoration. Château Lespinassat is just outside the beautiful Dordogne river-side town of Bergerac, only two minutes from the town centre. The Château is one hour from Bordeaux, set in a tranquil location, yet it remains close to civilisation. It lends itself as a base for exploring two of the best known regions in France. To the west as well as Bordeaux and its countless châteaux, Saint-Emilion is 30 minutes away, the bastide town of Eymet is 15 minutes away and Bergerac of course has its own vineyards. To the east you will find the Dordogne and Vézère valleys with their magnificent castles such as Lanquais and Beynac, and the towns of Sarlat and Les Eyzies, the prehistoric capital of France. There are three golf courses close to the Lespinassat.
