This attractive and very comfortable stone cottage lies in the heart of Dornoch's conservation area and was the birth place of Donald Ross. Fully equipped, sleeps 4 and perfectly situated for golf, fishing, walking sandy beaches and restaurants. The cottage has 2 bedrooms and bathroom/shower upstairs and sitting room, dining room,cloakroom and kitchen downstairs. It is very well maintained and improved whilst retaining all the original features. There are numerous restaurants, hotels and shops in easy walking distance from the cottage where local produce can be purchased. Dornoch is an elegant town with a championship golf course, second 18 hole course and magnificent sandy beach. The town has many elegant local buildings including an impressive Cathedral and County Buildings. The town is surrounded by farmland,hills,spectacular scenery and an abundance of wildlife including red deer and Highland cattle. The nearby salt-water Nature Reserve is home to seals,ducks and numerous waders

Dornoch is 45 miles north of Inverness off the A9 road. Dornoch was created a Royal Burgh in 1623 and was the county town of Sutherland. The Catherdral, The Castle Hotel (former Bishop's Palace) and the Old town Jail are all well worth visiting. Dornoch benefits from the Gulf Stream and has its own micro climate with very low rain fall . The famous Royal Dornoch Golf Course is constantly rated in the top 20 best courses in the world. Donold Ross (who became a golf architect and designed Pinehurst No 2 in America) was born in this cottage in 1872. Besides golf there are tennis and squash courts, bowling green and swimming pools nearby. The golden beaches offer safe bathing and river,loch and sea fishing can all be undertaken locally. There is a wealth of opportunity for walkers of all standards whether just a stroll on the beach , in the hills or up a nearby Munro . Dornoch makes an ideal centre for touring the North of Scotland .
