The Resort:
At the heart of the resort is a historic parador sympathetically converted into a hotel and restaurant, with a bar area for socialising over a drinks with friends at the end of the day. The Commercial centre (due to open soon) will provide a range of shops and bars. For non golfers, the resort offers two hard tennis courts, a paddle tennis court as well as outdoor table tennis, basketball area and a children’s play area.
Being surrounded by a UNESCO protected nature reserve, there are many opportunities for walkers.
The Costa Calida/Murcia region.:
Literally translated as ‘warm coast’, this relatively undiscovered area of Spain has the mildest climate in the country and offers visitors the chance to discover the real Spain.
With two seas to choose from, the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor, the coastline offers impressive cliffs, wonderful beaches, lively harbours and secluded coves. Huge plains, dramatic mountain ranges and national parks with lush forests are what define the interior landscape giving visitors the chance to relax and enjoy nature or participate in the many activities on offer.
The Murcian region is a sport and nature lovers’ paradise, play golf on one of the many courses, learn to sail, explore sunken treasures, do a spot of fishing, take a mud bath and enjoy a tranquil swim in an unspoiled cove or canoe to the north of the Mar Menor where the flocks of flamingos provide a stunning sight. The National Parks are a paradise for climbing, hiking, mountain biking and horse riding,
Culture and History:
Costa Calida is steeped in history and offers a real insight into Spanish culture, with fantastic examples of the Baroque architecture such as the Casino and Romea theatre.
There are a number of beautiful cities that epitomise the history of Costa Calida. In Murcia you will find the 600 year old Santa Maria Cathedral, the highest in Spain. Lorca is tucked away in one of the most beautiful and majestic corners of Spain and has a stunning castle.
Caraveca de la Cruz is one of the five holy cities in the world and home to the Vera Cruz cross, a shrine for the Lignum Crucis – wood from the cross on which Christ was crucified and many pilgrims travel from across the world to visit this spot. There is a variety of culture for everyone to enjoy in Costa Calida.
Golf:
Golf Club Mosa Trajecteum is divided into three nine hole courses which have been host to the final of the PGA Europro Tour Championship. The Stone Course, Olive Course and the Pine Course, making a total of 27 holes of golf, offers the possibility of playing not one, but three separate 18 hole courses – depending on the ambitions and experience of the player. There is a spectacular nine hole Par 3 Challenge course which together with separate pitch and putting greens, a training bunker and driving range provides plenty of opportunity for practice. Renting the villa allows a 60% discount of golf green fees of up to 4 house guests (a substantial saving for anyone wishing to play golf). Green Fees: The Green fees before applying discounts are : Championship Course 9 holes €45,00, Championship Course 18 holes €80,00, Championship Course 27 holes €110,00.
The whole Costa Calida is fast becoming a haven for golfers with many golf courses available, including the famous La Manga Club – a 40 minute drive from the villa. A comprehensive list of local courses will be found in the information booklet in the villa along with contact details, and prices.
Other Activities:
For skiing, the Sierra Nevada is a 3 hour journey away. Generally quiet and inexpensive, this is a great place for beginners.
