Notes: HEATING - The property has within the price both Gas Central Heating as well as a large log burning fire in the main lounge, that always has a good log supply available for clients to use. PARKING - Private parking for 2 small cars or 1 medium vehicle. Free extra private parking is available 100m away in a private parking area for larger vehicles or more than 2 cars. Last 100 metres of the road is a single track asphalt road & can seem tight at first however, if you drive slowly you will be fine with any size vehicle.

The JEAN VARRAUD spa offers various beauty treatments & has a swimming pool filled with naturally warm thermal water. Our Tuscany Vacation in Villa Rossa

The property is very rustic & has been lovingly restored by the Nobile family it retains many of it's original features. The garden was large, secure & secluded with an above ground pool that meant as a family group we didn't have to worry about any of the kids falling in unnoticed. They made sure there were lots of indoor & outdoor toys for our kids to play with which helped all of us relax & have fun.

As part of the price you have a lady come twice a week to clean the garden & pool as well as a weekly clean, bed change & towel change & this is done at pre arranged time that suits you. The property was really clean & Jo herself oversees the cleaning to make sure nothing is missed. The family were only a phone call away if we needed anything & as we had a young baby this put our minds at ease.

This was our first time in Tuscany. We loved the tranquility of the Villa's position yet being able to walk to the historical centre with its bars, shops & restaurants. We didn't do much sight seeing as it was a relaxing break for the family & it certainly was that! Awesome September Holiday

We stayed at the property at the end of September & had a fantastic relaxing holiday at Villa Rossa the property was clean & tidy, restored to a very high standard. We have seen another review posted for September & feel that we can not agree with their negative points. We found the towels were fine & the property just perfect. We did request towel & linen changes within our 10 day stay & liked the fact that these were done at a time that suited us. The TV & toaster did have a UK adaptors but all other appliances had European plugs. The garden is secure, well maintained & the pool was a real plus during the extremely hot September we had there. We would highly recommend the Villa to anyone as a property & a location it is really superb! Thanks to Jo & Antonio for all their help & advice it really made a difference when we were secure in the knowledge that when needed as owners they were only ever a phone call away.

High turnover takes its toll

We stayed at Villa Rossa as part of a family group in early September. It’s at the top end of the rental prices in the area, but ticked all of our boxes. We wanted to share our opinions to help future travellers make a more informed choice.
The villa is set over four levels, accessed by a spiral staircase. It has been initially refurbished to a high standard. There is a good selection of toys, books and games. While there is no TV reception, there are videos and DVDs for adults and children. The raised pool area is ideal for children.
Other reviews have made reference to the narrow road and parking at Villa Rossa, but we didn’t find this a problem for our Puntos.
However, we felt that the high turnover is taking its toll on the Villa. There were a number of issues that left us feeling that the reality didn’t match up to the ‘hype’ concerning Villa Rossa’s luxuriousness:
There were no mattress protectors on the beds for comfort or hygiene, nor was there a change of linen, which would have been useful given that there was no washing machine available. We wrongly assumed that the villa had one and it wasn’t until calling the owner to find it where it was that we realised it didn’t.
There were no covers for the duvets – and we did need them, it did get cold at night. The mezzanine bed had a valance masquerading as a sheet, which didn’t fit and unravelled at the slightest wriggle!
A number of the lights weren’t working and various bedside lamps were missing.
The towels that we’d hired had seen better days and were threadbare. Annoying, given that we had paid for them.
Most of the appliances had British plugs, so take your own adaptors.
It’s also worthwhile pointing out to readers that the garden area is not grassed, as per the photos.
Our issues aside, we did have a great holiday and would recommend the area. Would we recommend Villa Rossa? Well, yes, as long as one’s fully aware of its plus points and negatives. It doesn’t quite match up to the home from home that’s been portrayed in its advertising and reviews on the rental sites, unless one doesn’t use duvet covers, have a television with no reception or a microwave, but it is in a good location.

It is good to see that despite the issues we had to raise with yourselves following your departure you still had a great holiday & would recommend us to others. We would like to point out that the 'hype' mentioned in your review is simply the opinions of previous clients just like yourselves reviewing our property. We have listened to your comments & as a result we now have, Italian TV, no UK plugs in the property so no need for adaptors! & a washing machine.At the time of your booking we did not advertise a washing machine as there is a laundrette within 200 metres. We would like to point out that there is gas central heating at the Villa which if any clients are cold can be turned on at the flick of a switch, as well as a log fire in the living room. All the bedrooms do have bedside lamps & mattress protectors that are changed weekly. The duvets in the rooms do have covers however were not supplied as it was summer season. However these along with extra bed linen changes can be supplied if needed or requested. This winter as in the previous winters we will be undertaking the usual refurbishment & redecoration of the Villa. We thank you again for your honest feedback & wish you all the best for the future. Autumn Walking Break in Tuscany

We have just spent a delightful week in Bagni di Lucca at Villa Rossa. The Villa was stunning furnished to a high standard, clean & tidy and in a wonderful location having both peace & quiet yet literaly a couple of minutes walk to the centre.

We planned to do the typical tourist attractions but loved Bagni so much that we ended up staying in the local area walking & relaxing and only managed to do 1 day trip to Florence. There are enough marked trails from the Villa to walk a different route everyday.

The property is lovely & the owners were a great source of knowledge on the surrounding area and only live a few minutes away if you need them.

We would be happy to come back here again as it is a great spot for walkers of all levels. Many thanks Jo & Antonio for all you kindness. Pat & the group

The marked trails around the area are from 2km to 25km this means that, as you found out you can walk a different part of the media valley everyday!. The many circular routes we use pass through the local Tuscan hill villages & bring you back to the centre of Bagni di Lucca where you can enjoy a drink or a bite to eat while you rest your weary feet!. Terrific villa in a great location

We stayed at the villa for 2 weeks in July 2009 with our 3 children (ages 10,10,5). We really can't fault the villa or the area. The villa has been fitted out to a high standard and there's everything you'll need for a relaxing stay.
The walk into Bagni di Lucca is 5 minutes (if that) and there are several good restaurants to choose from. In addition, if you fancy a drive the coast is only an hour away - check out Forte dei Marmi which is a properly ritzy resort and don't miss Barga which is about 20 minutes away - beautiful hilltop town and fantastic restaurants (but book if you want to sit outside).
Loads to do in the area. We visited some impressive caves in the mountains one day and went gorge walking too which was great. Florence is an hour or so on the train from Lucca so don't miss that either.
A few people have mentioned the narrow road leading up to the villa - believe me, it might seem a bit tricky first time but once you've done it there's nothing to it - you'd have to be a pretty poor driver to struggle - just don't hire a Range Rover !

Owner's Response: It is great when clients tell us how they enjoy our Villa, tucked away in it's little piece of rural Tuscan heaven. We know how you enjoyed watching the deer on the evening & that the kids loved chasing the fireflies illuminating the garden!. We really think the main plus to our Villa is that like many other properties it doesn't have a long winding mountain road to it. As you said in your review within 5 mins you can all walk to the centre with its restaurants, eat fantastic Tuscan cusine, have a drink & not drive!
