The Costa Blanca:
The 'white coast' is famous for its wonderful climate, all year round. Even the Spanish claim that local inhabitants live up to 10 years longer than in the rest of Spain! It is named after the wonderful almond blossom that is the first of the year and is a beautiful sight in January through to March.
Facilities have improved dramatically in the last few years, particularly with the addition of motorway routes directly into the area & the growth of excellent, all-year round, golf clubs.
Anyone who is looking to buy a property in the area should let me know at time of booking as I can arrange for an inspection of properties (new or resale) during your stay, through an English speaking local company, at no extra cost
The Local Area:
Catral is a typical Spanish village just inland of the bright, blue Mediterranean Sea (8 Km or 15 minute drive to Guardamar beach). The AP7 Motorway is 2km from the villa, far enough not to be heard and near enough to get out and about. All the main attractions on the Costa Blanca can be accessed from this villa with a car.
Nearby is Torrevieja, a bustling town based on an old fishing village. It has all the amenities needed for eating, drinking, shopping & generally having fun in the sun!
At first Catral seems to be a tiny village, but you very soon realise that it is anything but small. One of the many villages of the Vega Baja, Catral Alicante has a population of approximately 6,000. Its original Moorish name was Al-Quatrullat which was given to an irrigation channel leading to Orihuela, and passed close to the village.
Golf:
There is the tournament golf course of La Finca (5 minute drive) at Algorfa. There are other top class courses in and around the area. Within 25 minutes drive there are three 18-hole championship courses. These are at Campoamor, Villa Martin & Las Ramblas.
Other courses are currently under construction. If you would like more information please contact us and we will give you the web sites for the local courses.
