New luxury villa located on Portugal's stunning Silver Coast near to the medieval town of Obidos. This family home is furnished to the highest standard comprising of master bedroom, twin room with individual balconies, family bathroom with jacuzzi bath & shower, large family room, an adjoining private south facing terrace with fantastic views over the valley. It has a fully equipped kitchen (including washing machine, dryer and dishwasher) and a cloak room. There is a large shared swimming pool and play area.The villa is situated on the edge of a small Portuguese village with cafe/bar and post office/general store. 6km from the beautiful medieval cobbled town of Obidos and 7km from the spa town of Caldas da Rainha famous for its locally-made ceramics and thermal cures. The big shopping mall at Loures is only a 40 min drive. There are many unspoilt beaches along the Silvercoast. Obidos lagoon, Peniche (surfers paradise), Foz Arelho, Sao Martinho do Porto, all within 15 - 20 min drive

Obidos is one of Portugal's picturesque towns on a hill top location near to the stunning silver coast. The inter-twining narrow streets lined with whitewashed townhouses and terracotta roofs wind up to the castle and the walled interior. The landscape is presented with beautiful vineyards and whirling windmills. This luxury villa is situated on the edge of a small Portuguese village only 6 km from the beautiful medieval town of Obidos. The superb beaches of the silver coast can be reached within 15 minutes, providing an ideal place for relaxation and taking in the truly stunning views. The shops, bars and restaurants in neighbouring Caldas de Rainha provide all the necessary amenities for a relaxing holiday. The established golf region of Praia D'el Rey is a short drive from the villa. Lisbon, which is a 45 minute drive away, provides great attractions including the Expo Aquarium Centre

Clean towels and linen provided (beach towels not provided). The property is cleaned after every rental and checked before your arrival.
  • A deposit of 25% payable on booking. Balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. If booking is being made less than 8 weeks prior to arrival date, we will expect payment in full with the booking. Notes: This 2 bedroomed villa is in a small development of eleven properties on the outskirts of a small traditional Portuguese village. The family lounge/dining room leads to a large private south facing terrace with stunning views over the valley and beautiful evening sunsets. There is a large shared swimming pool and a gated children's play area making it safe for small children, this can be accessed from steps both inside the villa and outside. The location of the villa is superb, there is so much to see and do within a short driving distance.

We just returned from our stay at Obidos with our two kids of 2 and 5, and are very possitive about our stay at the villa!
The view from the terrace was breath taking and the facilities inside were more than one could expect in a holiday house. Everything looked new and barely used and there is more than enough room for 4 people.
There was a lot of things to make our kids feel comfortable (kids bed, chair, beach toys, DVD-player). For our little children it was ideal that you only can go to the swimming pool with adults (different doors and keys needed).
The surrounding region had enough to offer to keep us busy for a week. Because we had already visited Lisbon and surrounding area a few times before, we didn't go that far south. But there is enough to visit in less than a half hour drive : Obidos, Sao Martinho and the beaches (The lagoon Foz d'Arelho was perfect for our little children, calm water and no waves ...)
Eating king crab while watching the sun set over the Sao Martinho bay, what more do you need, apart from a nice bottle of white Douro wine?
The weather was nice, around 24 °C with a sky blue sky and a cooling wind. Perfect! At night the temperature went down rather quickly, so sleeping was never a problem. Of course, weather in this region can vary a lot. I remember my stay a few years ago with temperatures around 40 °C in the Lisbon area, but that is rather exceptional.

Great villa on Portugal's Silver Coast

The villa was an excellent and very comfortable base from which to explore the Silver Coast and surrounding area. The owners have furnished and equipped the villa to a high standard and the property was clean and well-maintained. The shared swimming pool was great for relaxing at the end of a day of sight-seeing and usually we had it to ourselves. The kitchen is very well equiped and as a result eating in was an enjoyable experience, especially with the lovely views from the terrace. The fresh fruit and vegetables from the daily market in Caldas da Raina were a bonus.

The area made for an excellent family holiday. The local beaches are very good - our teenage children particularly liked Baleal for the surf. Don't be put off by the busy feel to the beach; a short walk soon takes you to quieter stretches of sand. Only a few kilometres from the villa, Obidos is a lovely walled town, perfect for strolling around (the views from the walls are great), eating out or just grabbing a coffee and ice cream. Trips to Alcobaca and Batalha were well worthwhile, as was a visit to Sao Martino but Torres Vedras wasn't worth the drive.

Sintra is a fantastic place to visit and we would highly recommend the 1.5 hour drive. There is too much to see in one day so make sure the Palacio da Pena and gardens (a short bus trip from the centre) is on the agenda. An added bonus for the holiday was to find that there is an excellent bus service from Obidos to Lisbon (13 euros return) which saved the hassle of driving and in particular finding parking. Lisbon is a wonderful city and we will certainly be returning to do it more justice than a day allowed.

We would certainly recommend the property and area for a family holiday. There was lots to do for both adults and teenagers and the villa was a great place for relaxing in comfort.
