In paradise under the Tuscan Sun

If you are looking for a Tuscan holiday it doesn't get any better than this. This was our second visit to this magnificent estate (we previously had a week in L'Oliveto). The units are superbly appointed and maintained. Everything is provided and the enjoyment starts the minute that you are welcomed by Christina and shown the property. A magnificent hamper complimented by local wines means that there is no urgency to shop. The photographs provided on the website accurately portray the beauty of the facilities and if anything understate the setting.
The estate is perfectly situated to access local villages such as the walled town of San Gusme or to take day trips to Sienna, Assisi, Greve Florence, you name it!
Your hosts Penny and James Benfield are there to ensure that every aspect of your stay meets expectations. On this occasion we stayed 10 days and look forward to another in the not too distant future.

July 2009 week at Montecchio (Il Prato)

We (2 adults, 2 teenagers) just spent a week at the Il Prato of Montecchio, and from the beginning we simply felt very good there.
A beautiful large living area and full-equipped kitchen, nice romantic bedrooms, all perfectly OK. Just looking outside over the nice garden gives you a good feeling. A very well stuffed welcome basket, including local wines to taste, made us indeed feel very welcome there.
The top of the bill swimming pool made the experience complete.
Repeatedly, we found out that the owners really thought of every possible detail, too much to list here.

June 09 Stay at Montecchio

My family and I had a fantastic week long stay at Casale Montecchio in mid-June. We stayed in the Il Prato unit, which is very, very nicely appointed and had plenty of room for our family of four.

We arrived to find a well stocked welcome basket of local foods and wine and received a quick tour of the villa. Il Prato has a very nice layout with two large bedrooms and two baths upstairs and a large living room, dining area and very nice kitchen downstairs. It was very comfortable.

The grounds, including the pool and a private patio and grassy area are outstanding, the views from the villa are tremendous and the service and support that we received were excellent.

Montecchio was an ideal location to explore the Chianti region as well as Siena and Florence. In addition, we visited a number of local villages and towns, and James was extremely helpful to point out places to visit and dine which were unique and memorable.

We will absolutely be recommending Montecchio to our friends and family.

A fantastic Tuscan experience!

Montecchio was the perfect location for a relaxing Tuscan vacation. We stayed in Il Prato--and one week was simply not enough! Our standards are quite high, and the accomodations exceeded them. The setting was spectacular, the houses well designed & immaculate, and every attention to detail was present--from the stocked fridge, wine and welcome basket to high end bath products and linens. Every need was anticipated and met!
In addition, the location was extremely convenient for exploring Tuscany and Umbria.
James, the owner, was a truly welcoming host with a wealth of knowledge on restaurants, local sights, and activities. We recommend Montecchio and Il Prato with highest regards and look forward to returning one day!
