Villa Lilas is a self contained, stylish addition to an existing house set amongst pine trees and surrounded by vineyards. Although linked to the main house via a covered terrace it is an independent dwelling with its own gates, driveway, parking for 2 cars, own garden and entrance door. Barbecue and dine under the 350 year old oak tree after an energetic game of petanque! The salon and dining area boast a magnificent 'cathedral' style ceiling with exposed beams. The salon and kitchen have electrically operated shutters whilst the bedrooms are fitted with traditional painted wooden shutters. The Villa has a 42inch plasma TV/DVD/Home cinema system with Sky freeview satellite plus French terrestrial TV. For your safety and peace of mind there is an intruder alarm system. The villa has a reversible under floor heating/cooling system driven by a heat pump which helps to reduce the carbon footprint. The English owners live in the adjacent villa with their Golden Retriever.

The Villa is situated 10km south of Bagnols-sur-Ceze on the D6086. A 15 minute drive west will take you to the exquisite village of Uzes, where you can enjoy the colourful market and charming cafes. Visit the nearby Pont du Gard built 13 A.D., which carried water from Uzes to the Roman city of Nimes, just 40 mins drive away. WhiIst in Nimes, don't miss the 2000 year old Arena and the Maison Carre - beautifully preserved. Sample the liquid delights of Chateauneuf du Pape after enjoying the stunning walled city of Avignon where the Popes once resided. The Camargue with its famous wild white horses and flamingos can be reached in an hour and the town of Arles with its 'Van Gogh' trail is worth a stopover on the way back. Try canoeing on the River Gard to get a unique view of the Pont du Gard - from beneath! For the more adventurous there is the Ardeche with it's spectacular gorge which is about half an hours drive away. The Mediterranean beaches are one hours drive south.

    Discounted rates are negotiable for periods of longer than 2 weeks.(not applicable in high season)

The Villa is suitable for up to 4 adults only. REGRETTABLY NO CHILDREN OR PETS ALLOWED. A car is essential. The usual car rental firms are present at all local TGV stations and Airports. The Villa will be professionally cleaned before your arrival with basic cleaning materials available for your use during your stay.

This wonderful property is exactly as described being spacious ,comfortable,peaceful and spotlessly clean.
Tony and Anita are never far away if you need help or advice and we are extremely grateful to them for their expert recommendations and also for the kind considerations that they showed to us.
The location is delightful being typically French rural ,right in the heart of the Cote du Rhone winemaking region .
Avignon Airport and Eurostar Gard are just under 30 minutes drive away and in the local village of Conneaux there is a village shop and a bakers where the bread and ckaes are out of this world.
The jewel in the crown on our travels was the market town of Uzes that abso;utely oozes atmosphere with its many restaurants and bars and has busy markets on a Wednesday and Saturday and is an easy 15/20 minutes drive away but it was always a nice feeling to get back to laid back Villa Lilas for a dip in the pool and to relax on the sunbeds in peaceful tranquility, in fact as the week wore on it became harder for us to motivate ourselves to leave the property at all.
This was by far our best trip to Frace yet and we will definitely be back.

Rhone Relaxation

From the outset Tony & Anita were extremely welcoming and helpful - our first introduction to the Rhone valley involving some home made nibbles and a bottle of the local rouge - a great start!!

We were very interested in the surrounding cuisine and viniculture and we were delighted to recieve some sound advice from our hosts on both (after their extensive research over the last few years) who were more than happy to ring ahead and book.

The villa was immaculate and well presented with everything we needed to make ourselves at home - our normal day was to go and see some local archeological sites, some well deserved lunch and a visit to some local vineyards or market to stock up for our evenings entertainment and general relaxation by the pool.

I would recommend this property to anyone with a love of food & wine and the chance to have relaxing getaway in the sun with the comforts of home.

A lovely location in the countryside with great hosts to answer any queries and to provide local information. The property is beautifully maintained, the facilities are excellent and the welcome on arrival was so thoughtful. I would certainly recommend this to anyone visiting the region.

Luxury Villa! Yes it was,perfect location, ideal for people that like to travel and see this beautiful part of France. You would need a car to get the most out of your stay.The Villa was tastefully done and exceptionally clean with everything you could think of that you would need for self catering! The owners could not have done more for us and made our holiday a very special one and we will definitely be going back. I would recommend this Villa to couples who like a very peaceful setting and a base for all the attractions which are in and around this area of Gaujac, such as canoeing on the River Gard. Visiting the Stunning wall city of Avignon or see the old Arena and Maison Carre in Nimes which was stunning.Just a few of many things to do! Vince, Ann & Sophie.

Our delightful stay at Villa Lilas

We (myself, husband, daughter and son-in-law) travelled by Eurostar from Ashford to Avignon and then hire-carred to the delightful village of Gaujac following the very helpful directions of our host. The accommodation was suberb, the web site information, though accurate, does not completely convey just how lovely it is. Every possible detail has been considered for the comfort of guests and our host family were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Situated conveniently for daily exploring with plenty of eating-out choice, the villa is rural with lovely views but not at all isolated. Cycling (bikes provided), horse-riding and kayaking available nearby for the energetic. Stay in to enjoy the pool and peaceful loation.
Thoroughly recommened for a grown-ups escape.
