The Bormida Valley is a quiet and sunny area, with gently sloping hills covered for the most part in vines and hazelnut groves. It is a beautiful and tranquil location and in easy reach of many places of interest, such as Asti, Aqui Terme, Canelli, Alba, Genoa and Turin.
The area is renowned for its excellent cuisine and wines in particularly Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato and Brachetto. You can visit most vineyards to sample and purchase these excellent wines at reasonable rates, and there are many wonderful restaurants within easy reach serving local and Piemonte gastronomic specialities, such as truffles and Robiola cheeses.
There are footpaths and tracks for walking and small quiet roads for cycling; Acqui Terme has a magnificent thermal baths centre and there are various markets at all the nearby villages and towns. The Italian Riviera and its many beaches is an hour's drive away and the Italian Alps just over an hour’s drive with the Ligurian mountains much closer.
