WINE TASTING DAY TRIPS IN UMBRIA
There are 4 main wine routes in Umbria, each offering stunning views of the countryside. Among the wines of Umbria are Orvieto, Torgiano, Montefalco Sagrantino, Montefalco Rosso, Colli Altotibertini, Colli Perugini and Colli del Trasimeno. Strade del Vino Colli del Trasimeno is the route around the hills and shores of Lake Trasimeno. Strade dei Vini Etrusco Romana takes you through the most ancient wine lands of Umbria. Cantico Wine Route is signposted and includes the localities of Todi, Torgiano and Spello. La Strade del Sagrantino takes you through the vineyards of Bevagna, Montefalco, Castel Ritaldi, Giano dell'Umbria and Gualdo Catteneo. There are 17 wine cellars in and around Montefalco. Set your own pace as you drive through winding country roads framed by vineyards, olive groves, pastures, farmland, and woodlands. And, Florence and Rome are only 1 1/2 hours away.
WHERE TO GO IN TUSCANY
Where to go in Tuscany Tuscany is only a hop, skip and a jump from your home base. Take the road south of Lake Trasimeno towards Castigione del Lago and then follow the signs to Montepulciano. You'll be there in about 1/2 hour and believe me, you will enjoy the sights along the way. This Tuscan hilltop town is famous for Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Nearby Pienza and Montalcino are not to be missed. Siena and Florence (Firenze in Italian) are each worth a day of exploration. These cities are best reached by train to avoid the hassle of traffic congestion in and out of the cities and parking.
Other Activities hunting, antique faires, wine and cheese tasting
Golf Information:
There are 3 golf courses: Perugia Golf Club, Antognolla Golf and Lamborghini Golf. Lamborghini is about 5 minutes away and offers 9 holes; driving range, putting green, pitching green, golf school, pro shop, club house.
