Ideally situated on the sea front in Banyuls, this fourth floor, one bedroom apartment has just been refitted to high specifications, including modern kitchen area, shower room, washing machine, air-conditioning and lift. It sleeps up to four with a continental bed and a sofa-bed in the lounge. Linen is provided. The enclosed balcony has fully opening double-glazed windows and a magnificent view over the bay of Banyuls to the Cap Bear lighthouse. Banyuls is an important wine-growing village only six miles from the Spanish border and Costa Brava and beneath the foothills of the Pyrenees. Its cobbled streets, beaches and beautiful hinterland make it an ideal base for sight-seeing, walking, diving, sailing and other water sports. There is a strong Catalan culture with numerous festivities including the famous wine festival in October.

Banyuls-sur-Mer is a charming Catalan seaside village famous for its excellent wines and steeped in local history. Situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees, it is a superb base for walking with delightful coastal and mountain paths and a short drive to mount Canigou for the more adventurous. There are two markets a week, a moderate sized supermarket, a variety of shops and restaurants and numerous Catalan festivals .There are three beaches and excellent snorkelling and scuba diving, forming part of a marine reserve on the beautiful Vermillion coast. Only six miles from the Spanish border, is easy to explore other villages and sample local cuisine on both sides of the border. An hour from Figueras and Cadaquez, home of Salvador Dali. Five miles from Collioure, haunt of artists such as Matisse and famous for its castle, clock tower and cobbled streets. Twenty miles to Perpignan with its chateau, medieval streets, chic boutiques and restaurants, hypermarkets etc., Good rail links.

A perfect place to stay

This apartment was just perfect for our needs. Great sea views, reasonably priced restaurants, bars and shops within a few minutes walk, beautiful beaches nearby. It's very comfortable, practical and easy to clean. Fantastic drives along the coast road to Spain and inland in the hills above Ceret. So many different things to discover - the fish market at Port Vendres [buy your own gambas or oysters to eat at home!], the market at Collioure, lunch in the pretty Place des Neuf Jets in Ceret - are just some of our favourites. Best surprise was the nightly free entertainment in main square in Banyuls itself - from karaoke, local dance or ballroom dance music, hard rock or jazz. We hope to return.

Wonderful short visit to Banyuls....

The apartment is superbly positioned regarding the great view of the port and Banyuls sur mer promenade, the proximity of the restaurants and bars, yet nicely positioned away from the very centre of town if a quiet early night is preferred.

The apartment had everything required and additionally was stocked with some surprise goodies on arrival ! Access is no problem and the apartment block is also very secure.

The resort itself is a little gem and we are already planning our return next year.

The trains and buses allow for visits to nearby towns and the city of Perpignan, so a car not particularly required.

Lovely location with balcony overlooking harbour. Easy access to restaurants and shops. Beautiful surrounding area for those with transport wishing to explore the Pyrennees.

Well maintained and tastefully furnished property. We spent a very restful and pleasant week there.

Would definitely consider returning and recommending to friends.

We were delighted with our stay at this fourth floor appartment. Everything was in place for our arrival, including bike-assisted guidance from the station and food/wine in the 'fridge! As there were just 2 of us there was enough space for all our possessions, though all equipment was provided so really we needed only personal belongings. The appartment block is well-placed for access to shops, beaches, hill walks, trips by train and bus along the coast and into Spain. Best ice-cream ever is just a few hundred yards away...

We had nothing but praise for the property that we stayed in this summer. The property was clean, very well equipped and we were made to feel very welcome with wine and food left for us. The view from the balcony is stunning, and the air conditioning was very welcome! Banyuls itself is a real gem of a town with lovely little back streets and not too overrun with tourists Every night there was entertainment in the main square with everybody, young and old, getting up to dance. The property is within walking distance of everywhere in town. We can highly recommend this property, especially for a young couple like us looking for a holiday away from the crowds.
