A self-catering apartment equipped to 3 star standard, with sea views, sleeping four. Situated on the spectacular North Coast of Cornwall with the nearby beach of Constantine Bay only 100m walk. The beach is famous for its beauty and family friendly nature. Trevose Golf Club, and the local shop, are a ten minute walk away. Many other local features to visit including Padstow, Eden Project and the Camel Trail. The recently refurbished, apartment consists of the master bedroom with double bed. Bedroom two has a single bed and bunk beds. The living area is open plan also with modern lighting and decor. The bathroom has a bath and shower over together with a wetsuit hanging rail and heated towel rack. Inside the small utility room is a washing machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen has a cooker, microwave and new ceramic hob. An ideally located apartment suitable for couples or families looking for a relaxing or active holiday. We look forward to hearing from you.

Ideally placed between Padstow and Newquay, the apartment is located in Constantine Bay, a quiet, small village. Within the village are an excellent general stores and surf shop together with Trevose Golf Club and the Treglos Hotel for that special night out. Constantine Bay is one of the 'Seven Bays for seven days' - four of which are within walking distance of the apartment. Nearby St Merryn (two miles) has pubs and take-aways. There is walking along the coastal path, cycling along the Camel Trail and horse riding all within a 15 min drive. Padstow is a 15 min drive and has a ferry to take you to Rock and Polzeath. Numerous gardens are accessible within an hours, or less, drive including Llanhydrock House and the Eden Project. There are lots of houses to visit owned privately or by the National Trust, such as Prideaux Place in Padstow.The area is very popular with surfers and has many beaches of different character to visit. Tintagle, Boscastle and Port Issac are also worth a visit.

The property can sleep 5 but is more comfortable with 4.

Golf: The apartment is within walking distance of the championship course of Trevose Golf Club, although most people do prefer to drive and park at the club house or the designated parking for the 9 hole course.There are also other golf clubs in the area such as Merlin and Llanhydrock.

Surfing: Constantine Bay has its own surf school on the beach run by the son of the owner of the local surf shop. In addition to this are the Harlyn Surf school and other visiting surf schools. A great way to learn to surf because tuition can be tailored to suit individual requirements.

Thanks Caroline and Keith for a great holiday. You were able to answer all our questions about the property and area before we booked in a friendly and knowledgeable manner.

When we arrived at the property we found the location was perfect for us – so close to the beach and yet a short drive away from so many different activities. Our only problem was choosing what to do first! We really enjoyed Prideaux Place and the children kept choosing the beach.

The apartment was clean, smart and comfortable. The road outside is deserted of traffic once everyone has gone home for tea so we slept really well. We especially appreciated the use of the telephone as the mobile signal is distinctly “iffy” in Cornwall.

We loved it so much we are going back next year!

Summer time misery!

We stayed at the accommodation during August 2008. The only positive thing would be the location, being very close to the beach, which is outstanding. Unfortunately, it rained during the entire week, putting a slight dampener on everything!

The accommodation was clean, but not 3* accommodation, we battled with continual condensation (we had to wipe the windows down every morning) we thought the bedding and furniture were bought on the cheap and the double bed was the size of a postage stamp, we didn't get a full night's sleep once. Added to this was the constant noise from above us, as both the floors and walls are paper thin.

Be warned, you are paying alot for the location here, certainly not the home comforts!

If all day surfing and sleepless nights are your thing, then this one's for you!

Owner's Response: We have had over 35 families stay in the 4 years that we have owned Stone's Throw, some who reture year after year. This is the first poor review we have had and we should like to respond to the comments which we feel are unjustified.

The property has been inspected by Quality in Tourism (QiT) - the authority which awards stars for the Tourist Board - and was graded as 3 star in its last inspection. The furniture was graded "good" in that QiT report; the double bed is a standard double size. As part of our improvement programme the double bed mattress was replaced (in Oct 07) by a quality John Lewis product. The bed had been slept on for a total of 6 weeks before the reviewer arrived at the property.Linen was also graded "good" in the QiT report. Pictures of the rooms are on this website so that guests can see exactly how the rooms are furnished before they book. Walls are solid brick.

In the property is an information folder for guests. It details how to remove the condensation that can occur in very wet weather. Using the dehumidifier, kept in the bathroom, correctly at night time only, keeps any condensation within the normal range. There is also underfloor heating and oil filled radiators for use in bad weather.

There is a separate folder detailing the many varied activites in the area. Within 10 mins walk or drive are walking, golf, tennis, swimming, horse riding, Prideaux Place and Padstow. Within an hours drive are Llanhydrock House, The Tate and Eden Project. A selection of recent fiction is also on the bookshelf.

The property has a landline telephone, with honesty box, and our telephone number, as well as that of our local agent, is displayed on the wall in the hallway. The reviewer did not contact us during his stay to alert us to other noisy tenants, so we could not help him. We are in touch with all property owners and would have been pleased to assist. No other guests have mentioned this difficulty to us.

In addition to ensuring we meet our guests needs, we have undertaken Fire Risk and Access Assessments. Electrical appliances are PAT tested each year.

We hope that the reviewers comments do not deter you from booking with us. We cannot influence the weather but, happily, most guests seem to have enjoyed some good weather during their holidays.
