At 250m above the sea level, dominates the landscape of Lucca, San Gennaro, the pearl of the lucchesian hills. At only 14km away is Lucca well known by his medieval centre surrounded by an impressing fortification perfectly preserved,famous for its churches and important monuments, such as San Martino Cathedral, San Michele and San Frediano Churches, the Amphitheatre Square, Guinigi Tower and Torre delle Ore (with a wonderful view of Lucca's plain). The most important street of Lucca is called Via Fillungo, well known for its elegant shops. In Porta Giannotti, just inside the city centre it is possible to rent bicycles to ride around the walls (a track about 4 km long), among trees, green and ancient ruins. In September, Lucca hosts a village fair, and just outside the city centre you can find an amusement park. Pisa invites you to discover the world-famous Piazza dei Miracoli, and its extraordinary monuments: the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Churchyard and the Leaning Tower.

It is also recommended to make trips to Garfagnana, among the sharp tops of Alpi Apuane and the hilly ones of Appenines, visiting Borgo a Mozzano, with its famous 'Bridge of the Devil', Bagni di Lucca, famous for its little statues, Barga, Castelnuovo Garfagnana and relaxing on the green fields of Argegna, more than 1000 m. on the sea level.The ski resort of ABETONE at about an hour drive from Lucca, has direct access to 51km of downhill skiing,with 41 individual pistes, served by 22 ski lifts . Abetone is able to augment natural snow using the 110 Snow Cannons. VERSILIA is a famous seaside resort where you can enjoy and relax on the beach of Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi and Lido di Camaiore. Viareggio has got a well known carnival in February. From Versilia it is possible, in particular periods, to make trips to 'Le Cinque Terre' (Liguria) and Elba Island.
