Casa Babel is a interior apartment accommodating 1-4 guests, with a small terrace overlooking a very sunny interior patio typical of the area. The many rustic touches, wooden floors and beamed ceilings throughout create a bohemian atmosphere that is enhanced by original paintings by a local artist. The accommodation The main living space comprises a living/dining room with French doors onto the terrace, which is also overlooked by the main bedroom. One of the two bedrooms is furnished with two single beds and the other with a single bed, while a sofa bed in the living room can accommodate another guest.The open plan kitchen adjoins the main living area to creating a sensation of spaciousness, of des belles espaces. Finally there is a bathroom with shower and bath . The apartment has heating and air conditioning, and a hair dryer, washing machine, iron and Internet connection are also provided.

The neighbourhood Casa Babel is just 50 metres from the Ramblas, a two minute walk to the Mercado Sant José and the Opera House, sited opposite the historic Biblioteca de Catalunya, La Massana school of arts and crafts, and the site of the first teaching hospital in Europe. In the central patio of this medieval complex, in the midst of the ancient orangerie flanked by spectacular medieval staircases, you can write a few postcards, enjoy a meal, snack, coffee or drink, or perhaps just sit around in the sunshine taking in the beauty, the atmosphere, and the amusing congregation of people, all on different missions. A brief walk in the direction away from Las Ramblas takes you to the newly redeveloped Rambla del Raval, the area outside the walls of the Roman city, a fascinating mix of old and new.

Location is good, very central. Stairs to the apartment (55 steps) are very old and potentially dangerous, the walls on the stairwell were crumbling. This should be indicated in the advertisement. The property wasn't all that clean, for example, the fridge hadn't been cleaned.
The owner was friendly and helpful.
There were no wine glasses, we had to buy some!
Owner's Response: Unfortunately /fortunately,everyone has different tastes.

1.The number of stairs up to the apartment is 40.I invite you to count them with me.

2.I´m very sorry about the glasses.It was stupid of me to not keep a tab on them,but sometimes there isn´t time between check-ins and check-outs.

3.The same with the fridge,which was clean,but in need of defrosting the freezer.Time!!!

I always try to hand the apartment over in an optimal state.

4.Yes,the staircase is old – very typical of this barrio,which is the 2nd oldest in Barcelona.

The apartment was adequate. It was in a decent location for touring, but in the older section of Barcelona.
The staircase is not one that older people should have to climb and if you have large suitcases, it was an exhausting experience getting up to and down from the apartment.
It's a great apartment for younger people and our stay there was fine with what was supplied for amenities.

19-25 October 2008. We really enjoyed our stay in Barcelona, and this apartment. First impressions were a bit sceptical but once we entered and settled in we loved it. The view from the balcony is so interesting, all the hustle and bustle of the neighbourhood. It's really close to everything, the beach, all the shops and the market and most important of all the pubs and nightclubs!

To my great delight,it was the apartment I had booked,and it really couldn´t have been in a more central position.We were in the heart of Barcelona,and were able to walk almost everywhere.
