A luxury 2 bedroom ski to the door apartment in the resort of Val di Luce, Abetone with lift and stair access, private underground parking space, ski & boot room, 2 terraces with breathtaking views of the Appennine, Apuane Alps.This beautiful resort is great for families, as it is quiet during the week with no queuing, fantastic ski schools & baby parking facilities. It is also known also as snow boarders paradise as it has 2 snow parks & the whole of the valley is excellent for off piste, as it is an avalanche free zone . Right on the nursery slope this apartment has 6 modern lift systems leading from it to the surrounding pistes. Whatever your level Val di Luce has something to offer everyone from beginners to advanced skiers. It is also the training ground for the Italian ski team & the place where many competions are held, including the 'Pinnochio championship' part of the Junior world cup circuit. A car is not essential as the owners offer an airport pick up & drop off service.

Val di Luce is a family friendly ski resort with several bars & restaurants, minimaket, ski hire shops, 3 ski schools & baby parking facilities. With 60 kms of pistes, 2 snow parks, 2 childrens snow play areas and a further 50kms of pistes within a 30 min drive. Val di Luce, Abetone is an area well known by Italians including the Italian ski team however it is yet to be discovered by foreign tourists. There are seldom any queues for the lifts even on busy days and on some days you will feel that you have the mountains to yourself!. For groups who have non skiers within them within short drive or bus ride you can visit the medieaval villages of Fiumalbo & Cutigliano (another small ski resort 20 mins drive with 15kms of pistes) or take a day trip to Florence or Lucca or perhaps enjoy some time at the local spa's.

first family ski holiday

We are a family who had not skied before. Jo &Tony helped us to hire all our equipment & lift passes. We had an instructor called Fillipo who spoke perfect English and was great. By the end of the week we could all go unaided down the blue runs & the kids were flying down the reds! When the pistes were shut we had fun competing with other families on the sledges that Jo & Tony provide for their guests. With DVD's, children's games & plenty of toys even when the kids were tired from skiing and we wanted some chillout time, the kids were constantly entertained.
It is a great resort & the apartment for families is perfect as Jo & Tony have thought of everything a family might need. We will definately be back again & would recommend it for other families.

Thank you for your review. As we too are a family with chidren we understand how important it is to keep them happy on and off the pistes!. We have packed the apartment with loads of board games, toys, books and DVD's for all ages to keep everyone happy for hours. As we know from our own experience that happy kids means happy parents!. The outdoor play toys kept in the ski boot room are always a big hit, as well as the various sledges, great for all ages including the adults!!! As you mentioned we have found a great instructor Fillipo as a ski trainer for our clients & he is able to teach beginners as well as the more advanced skiers with ski techniques. We have used him ourselves and he comes highly recommended. The resort is a great family resort with lots to do, including as you have said in your review sledging with other families once the pistes close.
