All-year self-catering apartment on the sunny west side of La Palma - the greenest and most beautiful of the Canary Islands. Sleeps 5, 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single bedrooms. Shower room with proper shower cubicle - kitchen-diner with full oven and hob, kettle, coffee machine, microwave, double sink, large dining table, SAT-TV. The apartment is the lower floor of a two-storey 200 year old Canarian house which is set in its own grounds of around 2,000 square metres set out over three terraces with fruit trees, shady avocado trees to relax under and a covered outdoor terrace for alfresco dining and barbecues. The pool is large and deep and set within its own little tropical garden area (covered with netting to keep the water clean). Hairdryer. Shared washing machine and clothes dryer. The English owners live upstairs. The pretty town of Los Llanos is 2 minutes away by car and there are 2 beaches within 20 minutes' drive.

La Palma is famous for its fantastic walks - try the 'Route of the Volcanoes' right down the spine of the island or walk round the edge of one of the largest volcanic craters in the world, the Caldera de Taburiente. Or sunbathe and relax on the uncrowded black sand beaches. No mass tourism in this island which is renowned for its tranquillity and beauty. If you enjoy cycling, there are some spectacular routes, but please note there is nowhere flat on the island. Wonderful fresh food, delicious wines from grapes we'd certainly never heard of before. Enjoy a day out fishing or whale watching. And if you're into photography, you'll go home with some truly amazing photos. A haven for botanists, with beautiful plants and flowers round every corner. Although our garden flat is listed under El Paso, the county town of Los Llanos is actually nearer, literally 2 minutes' away by car.

Glorious garden and views

Casa Cain is about mid way between El Paso and Los Llanos. There's not much to El Paso, but Los Llanos is definitely worth a visit (or several) with lots of shops and resturants. Its a lively place where lots of local famillies gather for coffee or a beer in the street cafes in the evening, and no hoards of tourists or nightclubs!

The apartment has plenty of space and a fully equipped kitchen so you really can stay in for a change and cook a meal with local produce from the market in Los Llanos. The garden has all kinds of exotic fruit trees and views over the mountains.

There's lots to see on the island. You should definitely go walking if you can, in the pine forests and up some volcanoes.

Thankyou Sue & Finlo for being such friendly, thoughtful and entertaining hosts. We had a great week.
Owner's Response: We're delighted Paul and Sue enjoyed their stay here and that they made several visits to the nearby town of Los Llanos. There is always something going on in the beautiful old Town Square (Plaza de Espana), and there are many local fiestas and processions to watch and enjoy.

Nuestra estancia en Casa Cain fue muy satisfactoria. La cabaña es muy cómoda, espaciosa y con todo lo necesario para pasar unas buenas vacaciones muy relajadas en un entorno tranquilo. Sus propietarios, Suesana y Roberto nos trataron muy bien y siempre estaban muy atentos a que nos sintiéramos cómodos. Tienen una piscina grande y muy limpia a disposición de los huéspedes. Gracias Suesana y Roberto por su amabilidad y espero que pronto volvamos a vernos en La Palma. Recomendamos Casa Cain.
