Photos and Description of this Banyuls-sur-Mer holiday house Old house close to the centre of of the old town and the main beach.

Ideal location on a quiet street in the old town just a few minutes walk from the beach and with the main shopping street just around the corner with its cafès, restaurants and shops including butchers, one of whom sells regional specialties ready to heat in the microwave, a fishmonger and, of course, several wine shops selling the famous local wines. The house has plenty of character with exposed beams and antique furniture (this is not a new property in one of the out of town holiday developments), yet with the benefits of a newly installed kitchen and bathroom as well as a cave or cellar with its own entrance and with plenty for room for the storage of bikes, etc. The house is situated on a quite street in the heart of the old town, so you will be able to experience the real Banyuls-sur-mer. The nearness to shops, cafes, etc. will mean that going for your breakfast croissant from the boulanger or a beach front cafè a very easy a pleasurable experience.

Banyuls is well provided with shops, restaurants and cafes. There is also a small aquarium that is a part of the University of Paris. You can get more information from the tourist office site: Port Vendres is only a few miles away. They have a fish market there on the dockside. Ferries also leave from here to places like north Africa. Just past Port Vendres is Collioure. This is a famous ancient port with a lots or opportunities for site seeing. Angeles-sur-mer is the next town along the coast. Here there many artists work. Of course, the city of Perpignan is easily reached with all of its historic interest as well as shopping. Ceret is also quite close and is famous for its cherries in April as well as being to Picaso and Dali and has a well known gallery of modern art.

All year round interest: Banyuls-sur-mer is a wonderful place for a holiday. The weather is good for most of the time; winters are mild and summers warm (it can get to around 35 degrees). The scenery is excellent; it is located where the Pyranese go down into the Mediterranean. There are excellent food and wine on offer; the Banyuls sweet red wine, a kind of port-like wine, is certainly a must and some Coliour rosès are wonderful.

Holiday without a car: For a small charge (20 Euros each way), we are willing to pick you up from Perpignan airport and take you to the house (there is a limit of four people as no more will fit in the car. We also are able to provide two child seats, if we are informed before hand). You will then be able to holiday without having to worry about driving. There are buses that run from close to the house and the railway station is only 5 minutes walk away. There a trains that go to the towns on the way to Perignan and, from Perpignan, you can get train to the rest of France and Europe.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is as described on the website - even better than we expected. It was clean, well maintained and the owners provided very good service to us - they even saved us a parking space. The rooms are nice and not too small. The bathroom is pretty spacious and has a really nice shower and seperate tub.The location was excellent. It is close to the beach, shops, restaurants and train station.

There are many scenic drives you can take from here along the coast or into the mountains. Of course there is good food and wine here and in surrounding areas. We spent one day in Spain and went to the Salvador Dali Museum.

This was a nice place and good value. I would come here again.
