On the Mediterranean coast is the beach front village of El Calon. Just over an hour from Murcia and Almeria airports with their cheap flights, the front line, first class new accommodation is Ideal for summer and winter holidays. The property at Cuevas del Mar, are 5 modern two-storey town houses each with three double bedrooms, the master is en suite with patio doors opening onto a balcony overlooking the sea where you can lie and enjoy the spectacular morning sunrise from the comfort of your bed! On the occasional dull days and during the evenings the houses have the benefit of hot and cold air conditioning and sky T.V. The ground floor has another toilet and the kitchen is well equipped and overlooks the solar heated pool area. The lounge dining room opens on to the garden leading down to the sea and rock pools just 40 metres away. 4 Golf courses nearby.

Our five rental houses are right on the sea front. Walk down your own private garden path and straight onto the beach and rock pools. El Calon is situated within easy reach of both Almeria and Murcia airports - approximatley an hours drive either way. Car rental is easy from the airports or, if you prefer, we can arrange collection for up to 4 people. Our small community has friendly beach bar, play area for small children and lovely coastal walks as well as in the mountains behind. Desert Springs golf complex is close by as is the historical town of San Juan de los Terreros with its beautiful golden sandy beaches. Inland are the larger towns of Vera with its bull ring and Cuevas de Almanzor where some people still inhabit cave houses. Along the coast the other way is the port of Garrucha - wonderful fish restaurants - Mojacar Playa and Pueblo with trendy boutiques and bars. About 2 - 3 hours away is Granada with the Alhambra and the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada.

  • DISCOUNTS; 5% off all the above rates for two weeks or more. or 25% off winter rates for four weeks or more Nov through to 27th March09 and 2010. Babies up to 3 years old are FREE of CHARGE. 3 years to 10 years old HALF PRICE. Prices include bed linen and bathroom towels. Please bring own beach towels. Beach sheets are available also travel cot, high chair and pool toys. Air port transfers available for up to four people (child seat and booster seat available).
    Payment by bank transfer in euros or sterling. Non refundable deposit of 100 euros is required on booking, the balance payable 4 weeks before departure. Cleaning 60e is payable at the end of your stay and a change of towels and linen can be arranged with local management. Welcome packs available - text list of requirements to above number. Bottle of bubble and beers are awaiting you on your arrival with our compliments. Several houses are available on sea front for larger family groups, 30 plus people.
  • Golf packages - please contact us on preferential prices on golf fees for Desert Springs and Valle del Este.
    The local English run bar is less than 100 m. away down the beach, and the owners Paul and Maxine are happy to arrange wedding receptions and private parties at reasonable cost.
  • Boat fishing trips can be arranged.

Notes: The gardens of all 5 houses are individually landscaped and provide a fantastic location for sun bathing, barbecuing and partying! There is a lockable gate at the end of the garden to keep the little ones safe. The swimming pool is in a secure area - pool toys are available at managers discretion. What a wonderful property in a wonderful location! The house was spotless, exactly as described and very comfortable. It is the perfect location for families with pets and there are great beaches nearby. We loved it and will be going back again next year!

Great location just by the sea but still very peaceful. Nice self-contained appartment and the pool is ideal for children.

A variety of good restaurants a short drive away plus a few local bars and restaurants within walking distance. Very nice beaches close by and some good golf courses.

We have been twice and enjoyed both holidays.

Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house. The views are magnificent, especially the wonderful sun rises. We very much enjoyed BBQing in the garden with the views of the sea. Colin was very helpful and knowledgable about the area. The house is well maintained and spotlessly clean with comfortable furniture. We enjoyed going into San Juan de los Terreros and Villaricos. A wonderful quiet and peaceful area of Spain, well worth a visit at least once a year.

Laid back paradise

My family spent 2 weeks in El Calon in August and we all totally agree that this is probably the most relaxed holiday we've ever had. My sons (8 and 5) had an absolute ball, let them out in the morning and they're gone until they get hungry or thirsty. The village is very quiet and safe, no traffic, and the kids have loads to do, rockpooling, exploring etc. The pool at the house was excellent, never too busy and literally outside the front door. If you like snorkelling this is the place for you, with the sea abour 30 metres from your back door, loads of fish, i even saw a Moray eel on our last day. Basically if you want a quiet family holiday, this is the place to go. A car is needed for shopping, eating out etc. but Colin the owner and host is very obliging and would never see anyone stuck for anything.
We're planning on going back next year, and can't wait.

We had a lovely week in Colins house.Everything that we needed was there and if it was'nt Colin got us it even down to luvely home made chilly oil and garlic.
The house was very comfortable and well appointed.
It was clean and modern.We loved that position of the house, right next to the sea, which was crystal clear and excellent for snorkling.We didnt want to hire a car so for a nominal fee Colin run us around wherever we wanted to go.
Colin himself was a very nice guy very friendly and laid back, a gentleman in every sense of the word.We would recommend this place for a quiet and relaxing holiday.
