Bonnieux holiday house

What a place! This is honestly the best house we have ever rented in France and we will definitely return.

Outside: the view is impossibly beautiful, you could never have enough of sitting and staring. The setting is a paradise of silence, vineyards, cherry trees and lavender bushes...not to mention the very best sunsets! The full size trampoline in the shade next to the swimming pool meant our children were in heaven constantly and no arguments about getting out of the pool and sun for a while!

Inside: the house has been done so beautifully that I found myself taking photos of the rooms to take some ideas home! It is so lovely to find a rental home that oozes style and beauty inside as well as out and so rare. On a practical level it is a real home from home with everything you could ever want, it is worth knowing that there are steep stone steps between the floors which are a bit tricky with toddlers but we managed it and the only problem we had was leaving at the end of the holiday! The house is beautifully looked after and spotlessly clean so you feel as though you are the only people to have ever stayed there.

Location: Bonnieux, the nearest town, is a really special place, very French, not touristy and with the most fabulous street market that is unmissable. There are numerous hill towns in the surrounding area with breathtaking views of the Luberon. We hadn't explored this part of Provence before and found it to be unspoilt and stunning.

Overall this is a simply unbeatable spot from which to explore this wonderful region of France. We hope that you enjoy it as much as we did.

I wish to say just how much we enjoyed the house and the Luberon region - we had an excellent week. The sun
shone every day, warm enough to relax in the garden in the afternoons, although a bit too chilly for the pool (in early October!).

The make up of the house was perfect for us holidaying as two families with small babies, being able to occupy the first and second floors almost independently.

Beautiful furnishings and quality fittings throughout give the house an opulent feel - perfect for a luxurious holiday.

Bonnieux is a lovely village (easily accessed by bike/on foot), with decent facilities for visitors but without the heavy tourist influence of some other villages in the valley.

We met Maria the housekeeper when we arrived - v helpful making sure we had what we needed.

The grapes all around us were harvested during our week (admittedly one or two by us) - and we really enjoyed helping ourselves to ripe figs from the trees by the house.

We definitely plan to make another booking in the future.
