Perfectly positioned a minutes walk from Cafe, superette, bakery, wine caves and famous gourmet restaurant. Lots of marked walking trails start in Caunes and situated just 20 minutes from Carcassonne Airport and 15 minutes from the splendid Cathare castles of Lastours. La Chapellerie Apartments comprises just two apartments with their own seperate entrances within a medieval building dating from 1450. These apartments offer complete privacy and independence and do not adjoin the home of the owner. They feature luxurious interiors and are fully equipped with the latest appliances, entertainment systems, high speed internet connection and for a good nights sleep premium comfort queen sized beds.

La Chapellerie One bedroom apartment is on the ground level of La Chapellerie and has its own private street entrance through a large medieval door. The living area is open plan with granite kitchen, dining area with table and four chairs and living area with large comfortable sofa for lazing, occasional chairs and inbuilt wall entertainment system with flat screen television, satellite and DVD/CD player. There is a large selection of books and latest release films. A small passageway leads to a good sized bedroom with queen size bed, large inbuilt wardrobes and safe. There is a unique cave like bathroom which has a small spabath and all walls and floor covered in golden coloured marble tiles. French doors from the bedroom open to a quiet impasse between La Chapellerie and the adjoining building where amongst the large potted palms and olives are a cafe table and two chairs.

Caunes is very close to many attractions. La Cite the medieval fortified city in Carcassonne is just twenty minutes away and there are also many Cathare castles to visit including Chateau Lastours just 15 minutes from Caunes. for those interested in Roman history there is the Roman village of Minerva just 30 minutes away as well as many famous Roman archaeological sites within 10-40 minutes away. For those who like caves there are two spectacular caves within 15 minutes. There are also swimming lakes just 10 minutes away which are perfect in summer and the beaches of the Mediterranean at 45 minutes to one hour. Narbonne is 30 minutes away, Bezier 50 minutes and Toulouse one hour.

The village is surrounded by picturesque softly rolling countryside covered in vines and there are many wine domaines where you can also taste the various local wines. Caunes is a also a great base from which to explore the culinary delights of the Minervois. There are three restaurants plus the cafe all a short walk away. There are numerous restaurants some hidden in the mountains, we have a extensive guest compendium which gives you details of all the special restaurants in the area where you can sample anything from simple french country cuisine to Michelin star rated haute cuisine.

We spent a week at La Chapellerie in August 2008 and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to family and friends.

The apartment is everything we expected - and more! The thoughtful design and high end finishing make this a real little gem. It's situated right in the centre of the village with everything you'd expect from village life within a few minutes walk - the baker, the butchers, the store and the cafe. Most of our evenings were spent mixing with tourists and locals alike at the cafe - it's a warm and welcoming place!

What really made a difference was the effort that had been put into providing an information folder, not only on the local attractions (they are many and varied) but also on the local community - where to get the best bread, how to book the best restaurant etc - very thoughtful and added a lot for us!

The owner made us feel very welcomed and was on hand to answer any questions we had and provide some additional hints and tips on how to get the best out of our travels.

This quiet villlage is well connected too - Caracasonne, Bezier, Narbonne, and the Med coast all within easy travelling distance. But you'll want to spend your time locally - there's so many lovely little villages and Cathar history in the immediate vicinty (including Caunes Abbey).

A wonderful holiday experience that we'd love to repeat.
